Sup all..
Started up my car on a rainy day and it backfired from the Engine compartment...from the AFM maybe? so as i restarted the car, it immediately stalled, tried it again five or six more times..same thing. The last time i kept my foot on the gas after i started it...and drove it home like that. had to keep my foot on the gas pedal at a stop light or slowing down.

Next morning started up the car, idled for one second then drop eractically from 300-500-200-400-300 and stalled. Second attempt to start i heard the popping noise from the engine compartment again. Anytime i add some gas to it from 1-2 grand seems like theres a fuel cut, 3k and up sounds and feels fine.

Also if i were to drive the car for abot 10mins the car would idle, but it would be 2500. And it idles like crap.

Chagned the Idle Speed Motor...Swaped AFMs...Checked Timing..checked timing marks....checked CTS..TPS...Cold Start Injector...
dunno whats left for those symptoms

Fuel Pressure Regulator?

thanks all!

how many miles are on the fuel filter? ever changed it? unless it's the original Toyota fuel filter, they need to be changed every 15,000 miles or so.

also try somemore easy stuff...listen for vaccuum leaks, check the condition, gaps of your spark plugs, make sure every plug wire is still good, check the dizzy cap and rotor, condition of air filter, etc.

clean out your fuel systems..... go to autozone bypass all those crappy fuel additives that swell your lines... buy SeaFoam... 7 bucks. pull your break booster line with your engine started pour in 1/3 of the can while the engine is running then kill your engine... while your pouring this in your engine will try to die... keep it runing by pouring more and less and it will smoke alot... dont get worried. pour 1/3 in your gas tank. and 1/3 in your crank case.... start your engine 5 minutes after all this. it will fight you a bit to start.. and it will smoke like HOLY hell drive it around till it stops smoking and 100 miles after pouring this in your crank case YOU MUST GET AN OIL CHANGE... this will clean your fuel systems upper manifold your injectors your pistons rings sticky lifters steady your idle increase your throttle responce..... hopefully thats your prob....

Did you check the cam(s) timing, with the number 1 at tdc. sounds like the timing belt slipped.

could be a vacuum leak.
