View Full Version : Probs with fuses and perhaps losing power..?

Okay first off I did a search and found a little info on my fuse problem but not exactly hitting the nail on the head.

So one problem I think I am having is a loss of power? Everytime I would switch my headlights on, my radio would instantly shut off. I used to think it was a wiring problem until my latest issue...

Last month I was driving and suddenly the gauge lights went out and the radio mysterious popped back on. I had no idea what was going on. I also had no idea that it took my tail lights out until I got pulled over (lucky me just a verbal warning). Fixed the tail lights with a new fuse.

Two nights ago I was heading to the gas station and before I left the neighborhood the gauge lights shut off again. I went back home and put in a new fuse. I got gas then came back home, but right as I pulled down my street the lights shut off again. I didnt have any 15amp fuses left so I put the next higher one in but i guess it instantly blew without me knowing. I gave up until last night.

Well, needless to say I went thru a whole pack of fuses. As soon as I pop it in they blow. I dont know what the hell is up with that.

Any help on both situations?

I'd like to add that sometimes while driving, my radio cuts out. It likes to do it mostly when i'm stopping oddly enough. I noticed it sometimes does it when i'm at a stand still rolling up my windows, that's why i'm beginning to think i'm not running enough power.

you have a frayed wire grounding out somewhere, or a melted wire grounding out. pull the radio out and the lower drivers dash out and give it a good look

i've got gremlins like this too - when i pull into my driveway and let it idle - my headlights and gauge cluster lights dim - i rev to 1200 and they light back up - weird?

radio is retarded too - the fuse is blown but I can still eject the CD

I had same problem with gauge and taillights fuse blowing out. To make a long story short, The light in center consul one of the wires was grounding out. Just one more place to look.

I think radios are meant to do that power or not, cause I can eject without the power on. But mine will still play even with the power off until i pull the key out the ignition lol.
