haha, me, being the young dumbass that i am, when i first got my 82 l type a couple weeks ago, decided to see where the revlimiter was, revved it to 8k, popped out the cam seal and poured oil all over my driveway.... haha luckily she didnt blow.

why doesnt it have a rev limiter?

I don't think that in 1982 Toyota forsaw that kids 20 years later would "test" the rpm limits, stupid them. They must have thought that the highly visible redline at 6500rpm was enough :duh:

heheheh, i knew that was gonna be Damians mk3. too bad its only good as a highway runner right now.

the blue mk2 did 134hp/133tq
Supra_souls 6m did 162/164
and the mk3 did 398/347 <13.5psi, T78, rebuilt engine with a lot of headwork, Emanage. later checked plugs and they were all fuct up. he says boost comes on 1-2 hundred sooner and it pulls harder now.

man i need to get a car done for next year, lol. not participating in my own events sucks, lol.

Wow. I didnt even know these cars were capable of 8k.

Yeah too bad your not making power after 5500rpm anyways.

And, if they hit 8k and break, I wouldn't call that capable of 8k. If my 82 had a rev limiter, I would have one more good 5M then I do. I missed 2nd racing and spun a bearing somewhere around 8k. Not recommended.

Ah, this would depend on the build... Stock 'labeled' redline applies to stock builds.

With just an upgraded exhaust, and manually shifting an auto, it can still pull in the 'red'.

That being said, I do know of a 7m that has been balanced to 10K...

What the motor is 'capable' of and where you are 'making power' is determined on how you build it.

Think not of 'rev limit' based on the 5 speed ECU and instrument cluster markings, but rather of what an Auto ECU can do on the proper build...

There is a 7m over here that revs to 10,800 rpm, Boy would i like to hear that, it also makes just a tad bit over 800hp :crossjerk
