Ok so ive always seen the headlight washers on my car but yet never knew how to use them. Everybody seems to think that they're for looks and I cannot figure this whole deal out. The reason I ask is because I may, when I do body work, pull them out and make it flush there but j/w what they're all about.

Turn the headlights on...then hit the washer for the windshield wipers...you should have water/cleaner come out of the headlight washer nozzle.

I never used them when I had them. On my next MkII I'm going to do exactly what you are talking about and remove and fill them. I think they detract from the nice lines of the car and will look much better without them. I'm also getting rid of the rear wiper squirter system (the lines and fill bag and the works) and will be removing the hatch lock and filling it in.

I have the same exact plan as you. I will be removing anything that takes away from the lines of the car. Im even going as far as to do shaved door handles. Also one other question, I was thinking about taking the fender flares off and doing something else but I don't know what it looks like under there and I dont know what would look good.

I think getting an L-type header panel would be wiser than filling them in. (L-types never came with headlight washers)
My aunts Supra had the washers shaved and it was a piss poor job, you could see the indents and as time went by it got worse.

That's what the classifieds are for at cs.com :)
Keep an eye out, every once in awhile an L type is parted out, also if you put up a wanted thread, you can get a hit that way. Not every part for these cars are readily avilable at the junkyard, make use of the classifieds

Yeah I used an 82 l-type header panel on my car and shaved off the windshield squirters on the hood before getting my car painted.

On My 85 you have to double tap the button to make it come out of the headlight sprayers.

I guess the previous owner must have had them cheap filled on mine before painting, now that hole in my header panel makes sense, my dad thought it was where some sort of aftermarket alarm sensor had been placed, I never even knem about the headlight washers, hope the other side doesn't fall out too.

I never understood thes headlight washers. Unless your running around in mudd, they seem to make more of a mess. Speaking of headlight washers, has anyone seen the ones one the newer Mini's? They are like freaking James Bond style! I'm suprised the washer don't break the headlights from spraying so hard.
