Just a hint, you may want to take it to a jeweler and have it appraised, some will do it for free. That way you can post proof on your auction that it is what you say it is. People on ebay tend to be skiddish about these kind of things.

i worked in the industry for a bit.

here is a typical example.

wholesale ring cost; 2 grams 18K approx 22 $

sold in eaton center jewelry store for 975.00.

gold has value by weight. weigh the ring, do the math on the KT % and check (approx 20 per gram for 24 K)

The markup on stones is massive also. India produced the commercial 1 dollar polished diamond 5+ years ago (.01 c tw)

A good deal on a stone will get u an apprasial that is 3 TIMES the cost.

Sorry to diverge there. Go to the local pawn. get a price then try to sell it locally for a bit more if you are not happy with the results of the auction.
