can or how do you remove them......85 oil pan...

They are not meant to be removed. You can drill the spot welds if you want to remove them.

for installing the oil return line...should i just drill through the one spot weld in between the 3rd and 4th oil pan bolt holes?
and what can i use to clean the grit from the pan...what solvent can do this well with out having to brush it all out(under the baffels)

i ussually rinse the pan with something like wd40 inside to clean it and then a wire brush outside (don't want to leave residue behind cuz it sucks for welding). heres a pic of where i put my return.

You shouldn't get that much inside the pan. You should wash solvent through it for awhile after you are done.

And compressed air to blast out residues.
