Did a clutch job on my 85 today. Replaced the rear main seal, resurfaced the flywheel, new pilot bearing, new disc and PP and put my '84 P type 5spd in it being the one it has now is almost shot. Also found the Trans mount completely torn. I'm almost done now, but the driveshafts are to short!!!! What in the world! Theres about 1/2" between them with the front shaft pushed backward all the way on the Driveshaft bearing adjustment. Why in the world would the shafts be 1/2" off?

Never going to believe this. the Rear shaft was Twisted and shortened. Some how the Yokes became out of alignment. and the overall length about 1" shorter than it should be. HOW THE HECK DOES a Driveshaft get out of Clock like that and shortened? I looked it over... it had no physical damage. the yokes were 45* off. So i'm running my '84's Trans, Drive-shafts and center bearing.

The new Shifter bushings (including the one INSIDE the trans), ACT Pressure plate and all the other odds and ends I fixed..... make a world of a difference. the upper engine/trans bolts were actually lose too, guy before me didn't put that trans back in 100% right. Either way, i'm SOOO glad it's all done and perfect now.

EXACTLY!!! I don't understand HOW though. It got shorter, and out of clock. I mean, I rock crawl with my 4runner and never seen something like this. I've seen physical damage, that type stuff. If you look at this thing.. it looks new!!! Another thing. How was it BOLTED UP before, and now it's to short!!!!???
