************IMPORTANT NOTE***************
Just a quick warning about this auction...
There something fishy with this auction... I have it saved in my records... same car, same mileage, same photos, same description used on an ebay auction from august 2005 located in Nebraska... reserve met @ $7302.99 august-25-2005 - now the car is listed in Louisiana for less than half the price from 1 year ago???
Of course this cld be honest and legit... just be careful and diligent before forking over any monies. All I know is what you all see.
I have all the orginal qauction pix and text saved on my PC if anyone needs it. Its quite literally the same with different auction dates/times.

Also, this is Hurricane Katrina country. Don't bid without looking it over very carefully. supraman can tell you all about what happened down there. I wouldn't be surprized if they indeed have a white supra just like the one in the photos and when you get it home and have time to really look it over, you find seaweed in the nooks and crannies.

I sent a message to the seller asking for more pictures. I also requested that I see it in person before buying it.....
I would buy this car if it would be real, but I have doubt about this auction. Definitly seems fishy.
Greg, can you email the pics to bruno@cpperformance.ca

Bruno... there are the same exact pix as currently shown in that auction.
Here's a cut/paste of the original description. The last line (under asterisks) is my own notation of the auction results:
Vehicle Description
This is a one-owner (non-smoker), mint condition 1984 Toyota Supra with 46,000 actual miles. This vehicle has ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED, and NEVER DRIVEN IN SNOW/ICE/SALT. Therefore, NO RUST. Features include: -- 6-cyl, 2.8 litre twin cam engine -- Electronic fuel injection -- 5-speed overdrive transmission -- 4-wheel vented power disc brakes -- NEW 225/60R14 (94H) steel belted radial tires -- 14" X 7" aluminum alloy wheels -- Independent rear suspension with limited slip differential -- Power steering/windows/door locks -- Leather steering wheel -- Burgundy cloth interior -- Front sports seats, with the squeeze-bulb lumbar support feature on the driver's seat -- NEW Panasonic AM/FM/CD Player with 4 NEW Memphis Speakers (I still have the original AM/FM/EQ Cassette Deck) -- Automatic air conditioning/heating system -- Cruise control -- Electric sun roof -- Carpeted floor mats. I also have the Supra black "bra" that I only used a couple of times, and two Fram oil filters I'll throw in as well. The exterior is near perfect. There are no door dings, and only a few minor paint chips (pin-head sized and not noticeable unless you are up close) that have been touched up with factory paint over the years. The burgundy interior is immaculate. I performed the oil/filter changes myself every 3000 miles or 18 months, using Mobil 1 and Fram oil filters. Shop maintenance was performed at Old Mill Toyota, using one of their long-time expert mechanics. I have all the maintenance records and even the original sticker. New Falken Ziex ZE-502A M+S tires replaced the originals at 40,000 miles, and the timing belt was replaced at 42,000 miles. Two items of note: (1) The A/C system probably needs to be recharged, and (2) I disconnected the wire going to the power antenna because it occasionally wasn't going up/down. The antenna motor itself is fine -- it's probably just a case where the gears are a bit worn. In any case, the antenna remains in the "up" position. This is the best car I've ever owned. It's a delight to drive, especially on road trips where 90% of its miles were accumulated. It's never been in an accident, and has been babied since day one. It's always been garaged, and at the first sign of snow, it would stay in the garage until the snow/ice was gone and the streets were dry. I waxed it every year with Nu Finish, Consumer Reports top-rated car polish. If I had a three-car garage, I'd wouldn't think of selling it. But we're now a four-car family with only a two-car garage. I won't let this car sit outside, so about a one-and-a-half years ago I began storing it at a nearby building that also houses several other vintage cars. It's a secure environment, and I visit every couple of months to move the vehicle back and forth to keep the new tires happy. This car will be sold "as is", however upon sale, and with the buyer's permission, I'll put a new battery into the car and have my trusty mechanic do an oil change/lube/general check-up. I want to make sure the new owner's first experience driving this beauty will be as enjoyable as mine have always been! The pictures were taken right before the car went into storage, so you know what to expect. Please carefully review the Shipping and Payment Details below, and feel free to ask me any questions. Happy Bidding and Good Luck!!! On Aug-20-05 at 08:54:50 PDT, seller added the following information: *** IMPORTANT CHANGE IN PAYMENT DETAILS *** My Personal Account with PayPal does not allow me to accept any amount over $500. Therefore, THE REQUIRED DEPOSIT IS NOW $500 -- not $1000 as listed below in the Payment Instructions. I am not able to modify the Payment Instructions, so please use this revised amount for your PayPal or cashiers check/money order deposit. If you attempt to use PayPal for your deposit and it does not allow you to send the lesser amount, please forward a cashiers check/money order instead. And remember, I can't accept any deposit from PayPal if it comes from your Credit or Debit Card. Sorry for the confusion.
On Aug-23-05 at 08:45:51 PDT, seller added the following information:
*** MAINTENANCE UPDATE *** Several prospective bidders have inquired about getting the car immediately after the auction closes, so I decided to take it in for the aforementioned service and check-up this week. The following work will be performed: -- New Battery and Cable for the positive terminal. -- Oil/Filter change. -- New Air Filter. -- New Spark Plugs and Wires. -- New Heater Control Valve. -- Flushes and Fills for the Power Steering, Brake, Clutch, Rear Differential and Cooling Systems. -- I also decided to have them check the A/C system, and a New Compressor will be installed and the system recharged with freon. I will provide the winning bidder with the maintenance record for this along with all other previous work. The car will be brought home tomorrow, and will be garaged here until the buyer picks it up. I will update the Vehicle Description if there are any changes or additions to this work. Thanks to all for your interest!

Guys,
The carfax says it resided in Nebraska until 9/14/2005 registering then in AZ only to be reregistered on 3/17/2006 in scottsdale. Seems too good to be true. Maybe it isnt but the fact that he says he is the only owner seems kind of difficult based on the carfax.

I was about to take a quick ride to inspect it this weekend. Also noticed that the pictures show uneven topography (landscape in the Hammond area is pancake flat).

Definitely a scam....it was on E-bay like 3 days and got zero bids...?
It seems like there are many scams going on on E-Bay Motors these days. I saw a mint 1973 455 Trans Am listed that had a Buy it Now of $2,850. Same deal; no bids....
It's a guarantee that every time you look in the Supra section you will see a Mk4 with a buy it now of $6,400...ah the joys of the internet. Someone actually listed a Mk4 with a phony buy it now with MY username that I had to get cleared up.
ok ok end of long winded rant....

If anyone has friends in law enforcement the license plate could be traced.
And here is a "consolation prize" car just over in Ohio. Dark metallic blue. Auto. 78,450mi. $4,997Looks just like one I saw in a Hemmings Exotic article, which is nice and surprising because "nobody bothered to save these cars". ;-)

I'm the sucker. I bid on it. What should I do now? I have this email recipt that says I need to wire the money. The funny thing is, It does not show up in my "won" section in my ebay. I don't want to get in trouble by backing out, but it's a total scam. What should I do?

Contact ebay with the item number and explain to them what happened.

You know what, there isn't even an item number in the email that was sent to me. I don't even think I need to worry about it. Good thing I didn't send that money.

Ignoring your typical asshole comment... what good wld it do to trace those plates? They belonged to the original (can you say real and honest) owner who unloaded the car over 1 year ago, and are most likely no longer registered, unless he transferred them to another vehicle. Theres no value in that effort, and the previous owner is due his privacy.

they ended the auction early so ebay has nothing to do with it now. do NOT give them any money. since you did not wint the auction there is NO paper trail for you to get your money back when you DON'T recieve the car!
wire transfer = no sanctioning body, no paypalm, no ebay to back you up....since he isn't bound to any auction related transaction, he legally is not required to give you anything. you'd be sending him money for nothing and there is nothing you can do about it.
DO NOT send money and report to ebay

Got this message on Thursday from the "owner", Ashley Smelser.
"I'm really sorry for this late reply but I've been very busy lately and away from a computer. The car is located in Hammond, LA . It has all the papers(complete). This was my father's car who passed away 6 months ago, it only brings me bad memories. I want this transaction to be smooth as I am caught in the middle of some very important events and I don't have much time at my disposal. The car is in perfect condition, no scratches, no special marks, no need for additional repairs what so ever, no leaks, rust free. A great car ready to be yours. It has no accident or any engine problem.
The price is $2,500 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental US. There are no other costs regarding this transaction. Regarding payment I am aware of the eBay's rules and we will use Vehicle Purchase Protection Program which will hold the deposit until you receive the car.
Thank you,
Ashley."
