Hello

Just did the oil pan and lifted the engine by the old pan after unbolting the engine mounts (2 bolts each side). After I lowered the engine back down, the holes don't line up. The whole drivetrain has shifted rearward about 1 hole diameter. The tranny mount holes don't line up either.

I did the job with the car on ramps but even on stands it would be angled back. I'm guessing the splined shaft in the differential allows some movement.

How do I shift everything back forward?

Pull really hard?

Get an engine hoist and pull it forward that way. Really should've used an engine hoist to lift the engine in the first place! The transmission probably slid back onto the splines of the driveshaft yolk. That's the only point where it could've slid around. Is there another member close to you who has an engine hoist you could borrow?!

just to close this out. I was able to jack the engine up by the new oil pan with a small piece of plywood for protect. I then just pulled the floor jack forward and was able to move the drivetrain forward the require approx 1/2 inch.

just be careful when you pull forward that the jack/plywood doesn't slide off the oil pan.

Your transmission mount is broken, I will bet.

The tranny mount was also disconnected during this procedure. Those bolt holes were also misaligned in the same direction as the engine mount holes. when the engine mount holes got lined up the tranny holes were also aligned. I think it's OK. It's all greasy, etc. but still moves with the tranny.
