Didn't have that issue when we got hit with our cruddy freezing/snow weather this past week. Did end up with frozen water on my truck's engine which caused the water pump to freeze which caused my alt belt to burn itself on the pulley and the snap. Smokey for sure. :)

My passenger door latch is sticky sometimes. I think that it is from not being used. I hardly have passengers in my car.

The door handles have a plastic retainer that can wear out, then the handle assembly will be loose (you can move the rear end of the housing up and down 2-4 mm - 1/4 inch), which can cause all kinds of latch issues - usually you can't open the car, or can't unlock it. Other than replacing the handle I don't know of a fix. A work around is to physically push down on the handle housing, then it might work. However, it sounds like you have more issues than this.

Thats too funny. The latches on my winter beater mk2 did the exact same thing to me. I had to force the door open after they froze shut and it wouldn't close after that. I thought I had broken it, so I removed the whole thing, removed a whole latch assemble from a spare early style door (they're different btw, the rods to the door handles are pressed on and are different lengths between the early and later cars), then when I was about to bend the different arms off I tried the latch again which was sitting on the floor in my basement and the damn thing started working again. It was just the cold. So I lubed it all up and put it back together and its been fine in the cold ever since, infact its working better then ever. I couldn't lock the door without the key before. But of course, the very next day the stupid passenger door did the same thing. This time I just busted out the propane torch and heated it up and it started working again.

I'm with heavyd on this.
My problem when it gets into the sub-freezing temps, is that the latch does not stick.. Moves easily with no problems.
My issue that I have (and this was on all 3 of my Supras), is that the rubber door gasket/seal sticks to the body. I have to pull hard to get the seal unfrozen from the body & the door open.

Your not begging for rust doing that, your applying it with stupidity.

Jezz Chris (fromda909), don't you have anything to input but bullcrap?
Piss on the locks guys. And really, a light coating of Vasoline will help on the rubber gaskets.
No Chris, don't offer all your anal lube out to trade. You may be needing that for yourself. But that was a large bottle in your console.
