I searched and didn't really find what I needed. I have a LSD 3.73 diff. I currently have the 85-140 thick stuff in there, but it didn't make the wine go away. so Theres no point having that thick crap in there eating power/milage if it's not helping any. Should I go with 75w-90 or 80w-90? Is there really a difference other than the 75 would be a touch better in colder weather? I'm going with basic dino lube. no high dollar stuff.
Do I need to add a LSD friction modifier additive for the LSD?
FYI: I just put MT-90 In the trans. got it in my 4runner and supra now.

Since you are doing dino lube in the rear diff, you don't need any LSD friction modifier. Only needed if you are going synthetic.

FWIW I used 90w and added the modifier.
Incidently when I went to my dealer to buy the additive, they told me it was out-of-stock. They then sent me to the local Ford dealer to buy theirs. They said its the same shit repackaged.

I can't find straight 90W gear oil. Ok, no additive that's good. Now what about the 75 or 80?
Just drove it around town for some errands, with the MT-90 In the Trans. WOW:) Unbelievable! So nice. Feels like the 4runner's trans now. Now I truely believe in MT-90. Shifting is so much easier, especially downshifting.

If you're staying with basic dino lube, then use Ford 75w90 diff oil.
'no high dollar stuff' - even Ford diff oil is expensive, about the same as Amsoil...

I picked up 2 bottles of 75-90 Accel (Advance auto brand I assume) gear lube for $4.77/quart. Got it in. the 85-140 that was in there was very thick. i could tell by just shaking the 75-90 bottle next to the 85-140 bottle. So it's all done. 75w-90 in the rear end. NO additives. just dino lube. MT-90 Redline in the Trans. All set.
