What is the function of this unit and why is it suddenly sucking air from the rubber stopper thing.
Is that a rubber stopper or some sort of rubber filter? That unit is getting air through that rubber piece. By the way this unit is located slightly under my washer reservoir and directly behind the right-front shock tower under the hood.
Anyway, I adjusted my tps, timing, turned the idle-air-bypass-screw all the way clockwise (located on the intake-manifold).
My idle was up at 2000rpms. After being able to sucessfully get a cel light and before adjusting my timing my idle went down to 1200. After adjusting my timing my idle was at 1100. Major improvement. Then reading up on the ISCV and the pointless Idle-air-bypass-screw I went to adjust it and it was about 20 turns out. I tightened it all the way and now I hear a vacuum leak coming from this thing. Is that rubber piece supposed to be there or does a vacuum line go there and to something, which is not here on mine.
Thanks.

that rubber piece is supposed to be there, that is a VSV for the EGR i believe. i always delete it myself, but i delete the EGR and such as well.

if you think its a problem then go get another one and swap it out.

Swap the unit or swap the rubber piece?

Actually I think its the VSV for the heater and AC controls. But there should be two there.

What does vsv mean?
Can you provide a pic of your setup?

Vacuum Switching Valve.

There should be 2
One control the water valve beside the wiper motor
The other one goes inside the car for the SUB damper
(what does this SUB damper does is another thing :whatever: )

those are solenoid vacuum units. in other words they electronically control vacuum supply to a component. like EGR, HVAC etc. I say replace the Red vacuum lines with regular blk ones. that should be worth 5HP right there and fix your problem.

Those red lines are about the only thing I haven't changed with the 6m swap I did. Thanks!

Pretty sure the 5M in my car has 2 VSV side by side. one of mine melted and was burning up...
Do a search. The rubber is a filter thing.

What is wrong with those red hoses? Are they just not the right hose type or something?

Red hoses, 6" exhaust tips, "graphics", LED's etc are all found in the RICER section. They swap out factory blk tubing for "color" tubing to add 5HP. graphics are worth a few HP also. Underbody lights are worth 30HP, and fart tips 100HP. I'm sick of ricer stuff. I wish the fad would die out.

Thats a bit extreme there, quit making a big deal about it.

The part thats wrong with the lines, DRIFTINGmy85, means is that they are origanal.

They're not original but they were with the car when I purchased it. Just about every tube/hose was a bright red or green color. Luckily i've gotten to all but that little corner of the engine compartment.
