before this happened I had ignition problems. my Ignition (Cylinder & Keys) was locking up on me. I couldnt start my car because the key wouldnt turn my car to the on position. I have an MKII and this past saturday it died on me at the gas station. I thought it was my battery maybe even my starter or ignition. Well i just bought a new alternator...its working fine...i just bought a new coil..the distributor cap is new...but I've tried everything...my car just wont turn over...ITS CLOSE but its struggling to start. I checkd for spark and it had spark. i thought about the Control Module-Ignition but thats getting spark too. I tried jumping it to see if its the battery. but its still not turning over. am I missing something? a part to check? a part missing? please someone help...

Do you have lights and radio, etc? How did you check for spark if it doesn't turn over? And how do you know it's close? If it doesn't turn over is the engine seized? Do you have a 5speed so you can push start it? Does anything happen when you turn the key to start?

If it's hard to turn the engine, there could be many things causing this. I hydro-locked my engine a while back by flooding the cylinders with fuel.
Try pulling most or all the spark plugs out and spin it over. If it shoots out liquid (oil, gas, or coolant), you've narrowed it down a bit.
Then there's always a chance of a weak battery or bad battery cables.
