Hey i just got a 83 supra, and it has one of those fancy automatic transmissions, im more of a 5 speed kind of guy and was wondering if i would have to get a new ECU if i put a manual tranny on there Also what is my rear end is it 4:10?

Nope, don't need to change the ECU if you are swapping in a 5 speed.

Rear end gear could be either 3.73 (built in late 82 & titled as an 83) or 4.10 (mid 83 on to end of year).

Look at the silver plate in the engine bay (below the drivers wiper) and look at the bottom line and find where the "F" is (it should be about 5 chars from the end). If it says F302 you have a 3.73 open diff, if it says F303 you have a 3.73 LSD diff and if it says F293 you have a 4.10 LSD diff. Now mind you that is for what the car rolled off the line with and unless you know the original owner, you may no be able to find out if someone swapped for a different diff.
