130 mph according to the speedo. Racing some punkass Accord on I-5 toward Salem from Portland.
155 in the MkIV -- I-84 going N into Idaho from Salt Lake City.
142 in the IS300 -- I-90 into Montana.
102 (or so) in the AE102 Corolla (that was scary) -- I-84 toward Hood River from Portland.

The only time I tried to top out my mk2 was back when it only had a filter and exhaust. It would do 126mph and no more (verified by my buddie's accord who was tailing me..since my speedo only hits 85)
I've done 145 in the mk4, before I let off.

I've had my Supra(s) pegged at 6500 RPM in 5th more than a few times. I haven't tried this on the 3.73s though yet. I don't think I could pull the 3.73 gears. If I figured it out right top speed would be ~170 mph. All I want is 160mph. I plan to eventually run the Silver State Classic probably in the 130mph average class which allow a 165mph top speed IIRC. Anything over 120 mph in a Mk2 is ballsy IMHO (especially on the stock wheels), its just not as composed a car at high speed as many newer cars (flame suit on  ).
I've had the Solara up to ~137 mph when the speed limiter kicks in. Capable of much more, there is almost 1500 RPM of the best power band to go. The car is remarkably quiet and stable at this speed, it feels more like 80 mph.

I totally agree. I thought it was stable until I drove the MkIV at 155... then I felt unsafe as hell in the MkII at anything above 80 or so... ;)

Well the fastest ive gone in my mk2 is 120mph. Though ive gone through some twisties in this back road at 85-90mph, which i wont do again. My mk2 also above 90mph feels somewhat unstable the stearing wheel becames loose. I did not have this problem with my auto mk2. THats all

I've done 125 in both my 83 and 84. The 84 is scary with the front tires all unevenly worn and shaking starting at 70...but NOTHING compares to a Geo at 80 and hitting a bump, or anything really

Approximately, 140mph on the highways around Dayton at the meet last year. Had a little more in her too, but there was a curve coming up. Thank God, Ohio Trooper pulled on the highway just after the curve. Was running side by side with Mark with his '82 6mge. He had his metric speedo buried. Mine was way past 130 mph....Hard to find safe places to run top speeds.

In 4th gear,5700rpm,speedo pegged,I gave up before the car.Figure I was running 150+

'85'
As much as I loved the digital speedo, I hated that it stopped at 85. I'd guess that the max I had it up to was around 100mph.

My 85 is unmodified. I was traveling on an ohio interstate with my friend and his mustang gt and said as fast that I reached about 143 mph. 90 is the cruising speed, my mk2 feels soo smooth, and it seems stable through 130, but after that mine gets a little shakie...

Had my 84 buried at 130+ and kept it there for awhile coming home to the US from Toronto on the QEW (with 2 other people in the car) I guess it wasnt the smartest thing to do but when your friend says " hey how fast do you think this will go?" do you really have a choice...?

Playing tag with a friend on the back straight-aways in nowhere NC coming back from Myrtle Beach he said I stopped accelerating at 152mph. I had maybe 2-300 RPM left and Definately out of the power band.
Mine's an 85 with M/T and 4.30 rear. I recently got my hands on a 4.10 or 3.73 (We'll find out when I rebuild it) and will prolly put that in after the engine rebuild over the next month or so.

130mph+ when i let off the speedo took awhile to come back to 130
190kmh , which is about 120mph I guess, was my top run (Im going by the speedo here, so might be significantly slower). This was in 4th gear, near redline, but the car felt totally steady - I'm sure I could have gone faster if there was more straight roads on this damn island. Not nearly as scary as 175kmh in my old Celica GTS. Black Dawg - 85mph on 3 cylinders? Cant beat that, but did manage 110kmh in my MK1 with two plug wires melted right off.

Well, while I can't say exactly what my speedo read on my only top speed run was, it was on the Pa Turnpike, and the State Trooper with the radar gun said I was doing 142 mph.
Sometimes its nice to have a badge too :)

Holy SHIT :!: You got clocked and pulled over at 142MPH  You want to elaborate for us on this story?
Supra Bob

Heheh... He clocked me... radioed ahead to his buddy who was already out on the road, running at about 90 with his lights on waiting for me to catch up. Soon as I saw the lights, I knew it was for me because I knew I had been clocked. I pulled up next to him, waved and pulled over on the shoulder. When he came up, he saw I was in uniform, with my badge on my chest... He asked me if I had just been recalled and basically told me to slow it down a bit, and asked me if I needed an escort to the State Line.
Fortunately, I actually had been recalled because he appearantly checked up on my story as we made our way to the State Line, because the Sgt here at work asked me what I had done to deserve a checkup call from the PA Staties.
Like I said... sometimes its good to have a badge :D

150km\h in a 4sp auto 5M-E(aus spec mk2 supra)
she had quite a bit left in her but i got a bit of a bad feeling, slowed down to 100km\h(speed limit for the freeways here), good thing as a copper pulled on to the freeway at the exit just after i slowed down.
Maybe one day i'll find her full potential(only had her 5 days :P) which will probably be right before i pull out the 5M-E and put in somthing with balls and a turbo or two

Got this in an email a few days ago, and if it weren't for the exhorbitant entry fee, I'd do it in a heartbeat!
Ahhh, nothing like cruisin' down a 100 mile stretch of highway at about 150mph!!! Let's see, 300 bucks to enter, 100 miles, at 150mph, that's about $3.00 per mile and only about 45 minutes of fun, that's about  HOLY CRAP!!! $6.60 for each mile!!!
Oh well, maybe someday...

I aldmit to pegging my speedo @ 130mph @ about 6200rpms w/ my 4.30 lsd gears. Now I wonder what I could have done with those 3.72s in top end. ah well, I need the perfect balance of top and low end, and 3.72s just don't do it for me with the stock HP.
My 84 Celica GTS also pegged the speedo @ 130mph... then I found out she had 3.42 gears, YIKES. I wish I had known more back then, I'd have customized some 4.30s for it for low end fun =P

Hey Chad, Its Mark.
I just want to say thank God 4 that curve. It was bad enough having that trooper staying with us @ our decelleratoin speed of 75 mph.
We were going fast enough thats for sure.

Stock suspension yes, stock wheels no... and I have to admit, the car feels funny above about 105. The fastest I've hit was 128, and I had plenty of pedal left, but I was running out of road and had a passenger, so I didn't want to risk it.

why do you folks say the stock wheels/suspension are problems above 115 or 120 mph?
what can be done to fix them?
would new stiffer shocks and struts help?
i got a ride in a 7m (non turbo, and not my car) and we hit something around 120 mph coming into edmonton from calgary, but had to slow down for some curves.

I have only had mine to 115, the fear of a mississippi state patrollman's rath caused me to back off. However, that didn't stop me from chasing a trans am at 130 in my g/f's 98 maxima.

Hmm, I got my MK2 5M-E to approx 157kph...I had my foot planted right down and she wouldn't go any faster...I had reached the limit...I felt kinda ripped off...I thought seeing as how my digital dash went up to 3 digits I was aiming for a top speed of 999kph...lol !!! :P But yeah, over here the Aussie MK2's only reach the speed I got...no more...which sux.
I got my MK4 up to well over 200kph...probably around 240ish - 250ish before I got freaked out and slowed down... lol
And yeah, to the person who said the MK2's aren't stable with anything over say 120/130mph, your absolutely right...going 200+ kph in the MK4 is like the equilivant of 80kph in the MK2...you just don't realize the speed your going...it's that smooth...180kph in the MK2 would be like 300+ in the MK4. :D

82 Supra 5MGE = 195kph, you could do it in 4th or 5th with the 3.73 rear
85 Supra 5MGE = about 190kph was topped out
85 Supra 6MGE = about 200kph although it was SCREAMing at over 6krpm
88 Supra Turbo@14psi = ran a WRX, got it up too 6200rpm, about 155mph
93 Mitsu. 3000GT VR-4, my brother car, did 240kph racing a Porsche 944, he had room too go, with 15psi he said hes gone 170mph and I don't doubt it, damn thing has some massive gears.
