Has anyone thought about making a Targa top on a Mk.II Supra? Not just "T tops" but the same style as the Mk.III Supra. My friend brought that idea up to me as we were taking the targa off his Supra. I thought it was interesting so I didn't used the search button and went ahead and posted it. Sorry if it's a repost. :D

Would require an extreme amount of customization and would make the mk2 handle like a wet noodle. You'd have to attempt to counteract that with more chassis bracing which will make the car a lot heavier.

Not really worth it for the look IMO

Has been discussed in the past already. Basically see Tanya's posting. You will need LOTS of extra chassis bracing underneath the car. MKIII Targa's already behave like a wet noodle, even WITH the extra built in bracing. it's 10X worse without it, ASSUMING you can even drive the car w/o having the center of the car collapse.

There are quite a few diehard MKIII & MKIV owners out there who insist on owning a Hardtop car just for the above reasons & would never in their life go back to a Targamobile. Their really is a difference in the chassis flex.

It probably is doable on a MKII. You just need about this much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to come up with a structural bracing design that will work. And then you still might end up w/ a car that is not as rigid as what we have now.

Now the goofy part, is that it already HAS been done on a MKI (run a search on the Griffith Sunchasers, then find the .pdf link from the guy who used to work there. Start reading). Apply same design from the Sunchasers onto the MKI Legato.

Yeah the car would really lose a lot of handling. And I love my hard top right now anyways. haha.

The engineering involved in something like that just would be worth the time or money. an that would be just at the cutting the roof apart correctly .I have seen a glass tctop setup for our cars. I wonder how much that would destroy they handling of the car.

I think he just wants to cut the top off my parts car :( that bastard!
