after i now have kiled like 5 r154 trannys i bought a complete new 6speed v160 in us today, it is going to be shiped to me at monday next week, i looking forward to it, i also started to cut my part car and build a mk3 supra lsd on it and build it finish on the partcar and then bolt everything on my car when it is finish, i also gonna use the mk3 driveshafts, just a little shorter then stock hehehe

Uh, I know of one Mk3 that's pushing 815rwhp with a R154, and I believe it's fine besides a slipping clutch. So I do believe they CAN take that kind of hp, but for how long, I don't know. Some people have shit luck with transmissions, and some do not.

i had a mk3 turbo with 650hp in it for some years ago, i used like 6 r154 on that car also, a frien of mine that have 528 at the wheels is on his 3rd r154, so it is not good enough.


Thats 14 r154 trannys.

A good hard launch on sticky tires will break it. Even the MkIV guys can break the V160s

I'll be watching with interest. I've already done the V160 swap and now I'm looking at diff upgrades. If the Mk3 diff is relatively easy I'll do that but I'd prefer a Mk4 diff, mostly because they come with a 3.2:1 ratio!

i see that, but my problem is that the mk4 is really big, and i have to modfiy things that i alredy is finished with and that i dont want to do, but i think the mk3 is good enoghu

well, no the 6speed tranny modification is done, the tranny is already mounted, i just wait for my driveshaft and then we can test it.

Duane had one beefed up with a better thrust washer and some other mods, IIRC. I think that's what failed on mine too. Need to pic the guy's brain and get some specifics from him.:)
