1st car = 66 Pontiac Bonneville, 389 4bbl, BHG when purchased at the ripe old age of 13. Had it apart, bought all the parts to finish, was working a summer job for the neighbor. Dad got wind I was working off a tri-power set-up for 1/2 my wages, sold the car.
1st rig I drove was a 67 Chev 3/4 ton truck, at age 12 .... I was designated driver, when dad was drunk.
1st car after age 16 = daily driver for school and work --- 1970 Cougar, 351w, old school slotted mags Fats/skinny's :D

1st car I drove: a 1969 Chevy 1/2 ton stepside pickup. 3 on the tree, straight six, dull faded gray, military surplus (had the radio "delete" option - yeah, not even an AM radio, just a metal plate on the dash covering the hole where the radio should go). Really light on the rear, would spin a wheel without any effort at all!
1st car I owned: a 1979 Toyota Celica Supra, bought it in August of 1982, 2nd owner, will have owned it 25 years next month! - (yes, I've already talked about it here, but you asked, so I'm going to say it again). Metallic black paint (a pain to keep clean, but shined like nothing else when it was clean!), beige vinyl interior, straight six, 5-speed manual (yeah, it would spin a wheel when I wanted to also), sunroof, louvers on the hatchback, aftermarket stereo system - the girls loved it! (and so did I - I still have it!!!)

The first car I ever had in my name was a 79' Trans Am Bandit. It sat in the sellers yard for 4 years. So $400 for the car and $35 for the carb rebuild kit...$435 for a car that would easily leave twin tire marks for 200 feet. Front air dam found a brick in a dirt road the commenced it to tumbling under my car. It jammed up into the flexplate and broke the rear seal, spilling all its blood out, locking up the engine a short time afterwards. I cried that day.

1st car I owned at age 15: 66 Mustang rust bucket with chrome wheels, :-)
What a coincidence. Actually my second car bought at the age of 16 was a 66 Mustang rust bucket. It didn't stay a rust bucket tho. I restored it and enjoyed one car show season before selling it to help pay for college. Sad thing is that Mustangs have gone up in value so much in the intervening 20 years that I couldn't even afford to buy it back in the same condition as when I sold it.

My first car was a 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe Club Coupe. Bought it in 1974. Had the brake light in the center of the trunk. Fell in love with the brake light. Became obssessed with the car. (Sound familiar??) It was a very cool/uncool car. Taught both my sisters how to drive a 3 on the tree in it. Learned to drive a stick in this car driving the back alleys for a few days. It's still a topic of conversation at family gatherings after a few drinks. Ok, I'll admit it, I have Dork genes that I try to suppress. Am I a dork for falling in love with a 25 year old sports car? Believe it or not, The Plymouth was 26 years old when I bought it, and it seemed like it was ancient, man, built before I was born. The Supra, I remember when they were new. (I'm 53). It doesn't feel so old.
I'd love to get a clean original low mileage '48 Plyouth some day. I had a chance to drive one last year. Very strange, but satisfying. I live in San Francisco, so garage spaces are hard to come by. Traded it for a 1972 VW Convertible, another fun car that I drove for two years and sold for more than I paid for it. I also have access to a 1931 Model A Ford I can drive at will. Very primitive. I just love cars. Period. Too bad I can't also afford a new one right now. Test drove a new Rabbit a month ago. it was SWEET.
The photos are the same year, pulled off the web. Mine was 2 door, baby blue, oxidized paint that wax and rubbing compound would only help for a short while. First car I adjusted valves in, rebuilt a carburetor, changed a starter. Last car I serviced like that. Old oil got put in a hole in the ground in the back yard. This was the '70's, Who knew?
Brake light in center, tail lights on side. Turn signals were not available factory, were all aftermarket add ons. Inline flathead 6. Solid as a rock. (Heavy as a rock too :)

First car I drove: 84 Toyota Pickup at the age of 12. Worked on a Farm at the time, and I would drive it from Barn to barn while we were bailing Hay, and to get to different feilds when I was on the tractor.
First I bought: 1975 Chevy C-10 pickup. 2 Wheel drive, stepside. 250Straight 6 and a 4 speed. Bought it at 14, traded it to my brother for a 78 GMC 4x4 that didn't run.
First I drove legally: 1979 Blazer 4x4, 4 speed with a 305 from an 84 truck. Paid $250 for the truck, $800 to rebuild the motor and drop a cam into it. $500 for some 33" wheels and tires, and $200 worth of bondo in the body...LOL

First car I drove: late 80's Toyota pickup with a 5-spd. I spent a lot more time learning on a 91 Dodge Dynasty (super K-car, yeah!!!), but the pickup was the first.
First car I owned (and the slowest car I've owned): 88 Celica ST automatic. About the only thing it could outrun was Metros and stock Civic DXs. Blew it up about 2 years after buying it trying to manually shift the auto. Con-rod through the front of the engine block, it was pretty spectacular.
Since then...
85 Supra P-type (replaced the Celica, and I still have it, turning it into an SCCA car)
85 Nissan Pickup (got towed illegally, but didn't have the money to fight it)
84 318i
89 325i (traded the 318i for a BMW with some balls; still have it, debating selling it since the thing is always broken)
79 320i (picked up for a cheap DD/race car project; sold for parts & scrap about a year later)
69 F100 (needed a truck that could tow, proceeded to seize a near unreplacable Dana hybrid 2 weeks later; still doesn't run right)
86 RX7 (picked up as a temp DD while fixing the 325i. Might end up just keeping it instead... unless anyone wants to buy it? :p )

1st car I drove was a 89 Toyota 4 runner with the roll cage! Was suppost to get handed down to me but my parents traded it in. Made me a sad panda.
1st car ended up being an 89 Berretta. Short lived n sold it for money towards...
2nd: Dodge Avenger. The car I've done most my drive in so far. Ended up catching itself on fire two years ago on september 11th!? Ya, as if the car randomly catching on fire while parked for 2 straight days wasn't weird enough.
3rd: Teh 85 supra! Bought it as a project/fun car before the avenger blew up and forced me to drive the 20 year old supra in a bad, icey Michigan winter. Currently under going cosmetic surgery... still.
4th: Biggest mistake of my life, 97 dodge Stratus. Bought to replace the avenger. Got fed up with all the random problems the car had and traded it in the my wifes latest car, 04 camry. If you own one of these, I feel very sorry for you.
5th: 95 Escort. Wifes first car, traded her the stratus and use the escort as the winter beater to save the supra from another winter.
6th and current: 95 s10. Found out that when you own a house, a pick-up truck is a must. Now my winter whip & sh!t huller.

first car owned by me... 1989 Ford Taurus 3.0 v6, 3spd /od auto, pos... That car got sammiched at a light.. still have whiplash from that.. bought it used at an auto auction and it lasted me a month and a half before some dumb blonde decided to slam into the back of it... causing the car to lurch and slide forward into the van in front of me... that car had blown struts and shocks, bald tires (pass side started showing metal after a long brake skid to avoid another accident), shitty steering (wheel had major issues... you could rotate the wheel over a 1/4 of the way and still drive straight)... glad it got wrecked.

Very very very first car.... 1963 VW Bug with the huge sliding canvass sunroof. As far as I know I still hold at least the Nebraska state record for most drunk teenagers in a bug - I had 13 in that car one night at a party on the other side of the Kansas state line (legal age was 18 over there - 19 in NE at the time - 1972). Blew it up on the 50 mile drive to see my gf in McCook when I didn't know what that teeny tiny red light below the speedo was telling me. No oil = disaster
Next was a '67 GTX with bass boat-style metallic paint job. This WAS the 70s, after all:loser: (my prom outfit was a blue leasure suit with white buttons/piping, white shoes, white belt.... you get the (ugly) picture!) The "X" had a 383 and quite a step up from the bug. Nearly didn't make it through HS with this car....
Other highlights (and lowlights) from my youth...
1958 Porche 356A (my Mom & Dads original car - they used to stick my baby butt in the rear cargo area! Car seat, my butt! And I still have it)
1967 Ford Fairlane 390 (g-mom's car:rolleyes: )
1974 Plymouth Roadrunner
1974 Opal 1900 (LOVED this car!)
1975 Chevy Cosworth Vega (quickest damned showroom stock car I've ever owned)
1976 AMC AMX (just a Concord with decals and a 258 6cyl - not my smartest purchase)
1979 Toyota HiLux 4WD Shortbed - first on the right coast to have the new factory 4X4
GO BIG RED back at ya suprahusker!

first car i drove: 94 or earlier toyota pickup. it was the last year it was called toyota pickup instead of toyota tacoma. it was the 22re, built, my older brothers, i was 14, he was in okinawa working on the ch-53 super stallions for the core. headers, intake, suspension, rims, tires, turbo, he put a lota money into that thing. yep, that was my first car i drove, and drove it a lot. first car owned, my supra :)
edit: o yea, gotta love how my uncle taught me to drive (stick to boot), makes me get i the truck, takes me out to a secluded street, and says "hope you paid attention, its ur turn." that was all the teaching i ever recieved at 14 to drive stick. i must say, it was probably the best, since ive taught many others that same way too. tell them too many things, they get confused, its a live and learn process

The first car I drove and drove daily with was a 1990 chevy s-10 with RWD, a 2.8L six with a 5 speed. Honest to god that little truck is completely unstoppable. It has been through hell and back about 10 times, the engine has 347000 miles on it and it runs like a top. I still have it, it looks like shit because it's been in 5 accidents (all of them not my fault, 2 drunk drivers, 2 hit and runs and a woman pulled out in front of me at an intersection).I only use it now for driving in the winter on shitty days and for running into shopping carts, cookies, burnouts and whatnot. Oneday I'll enter it into a demolition derby to see if it will finally die, but I wouldn't put money on it.

What no American cars on the list???? :zzzzz: The Laser does not count (it's a Mitsubishi).
I learned to drive stick shift on a 1977 MG Midget - those early to mid 70's MG's (Midgets and B's) are pretty sweet.
Technically the plymouth laser is as much a mitsubishi as the eclipse is a talon.... They have their own little quirks that make them what they are. :)
what they are is simple... pos 5-star cars. lol

I'm a youngin, and don't have a car yet, but since my older bro just got a 03 or 04 civic, the window of opportunity to get dad's mk2 is very nice...
