Got a bunch of these but can't find a quicktime movie editor. Anyways this is the shortest movie from last Wed during the test n tune. As you can see the car is all over the place with 20psi in the tires. This was an early run @ 16psi of boost. The E/T was 13.4 @ 115.

LOL, geezus! Even having been in that car a couple times I still can't get over how nasty it sounds.

!
Ricey bov? ARe you high? Don't hate. It's a Greddy type R bov, the type that's used on big boost cars. I had a type S but the plain old "pssst" sound just doesn't cut it anymore. I like the "ber-er-er" sound better.

A: Good choice on bov *highfives*

B: Why the hell does yours "giggle"? Mine's just one big PSSSHHHAAAAAAAA... How far in have you got the adjuster turned?

From what I've been told, the giggle means the BOV is too small, and not releasing the air fast enough, thus causing the air to giggle out from the turbo. I would barely hear that giggle in mine with my HKS SSQ when I had the filter mounted right to the turbo inlet, but when I put a 4" pipe on the front of my turbo and moved the filter about 10" from the turbo inlet, now I hear that giggle a lot more. I was told to put a second bov on my piping, closer to the turbo outlet.

Not sure if this is actually true, but it seems like it would be. Adding volume in front of the turbo that air rushing back has to fight against.....???

The adjustment is all the way out; infact, the nut is only on enough to stay there. It sounds the same at 9psi just not as loud. Also, have a vid of a MK4 with the same bov but a big turbo pushing 25psi and it sounds the same just louder.

Nice trees, horrible sun as usual.
For those not from the PNW, the track is about 100/280, so aligned with the sun most of the summer (47N). They are spending $175M to redo the whole thing, including putting the track N-S by next year. And no money in the track this year.

Thanks. Going to get a real in car camera mount soon. Problem is most won't work too well with our passenger seats.

Just looked that the slip, it was a 13.7 @ 113.

...and you get no leak at 20psi?

I've got mine turned in about 1/2"... I had this inherent fear of leak, but I guess it was unfounded...

(btw, don, that BOV is almost as large a diameter as your throttle body.)

Had the tires at 20psi not the turbo. Had someone watch the valve while on the dyno last year and didn't see it opening while on big boost. The spring on that thing is incredible. Try to push it in with both thumbs - it's not easy even all the way loose.:crossjerk Liked the TB comment, lol.

T, I there's not much milk left in that pot.:ugh: Tinkering with that 84 has nearly broken me. Besides, nowdays I can afford to farm this type of work out. Soon, I'm going to devote all my resources to S/C'ing the 928 since turbo turbo kit development for the early 928 hasn't panned out yet.

Perhaps Shawn, but I'm too damn chicken flog it like that on public roads. Did so with Mike and it scared the crap outta me and broke the trans at the same time.:p
