Not sure if this is in the right section so anyways.

I have been toying with the idea of getting brand new JDM/ADM Vents made
up because they really have been getting rare, i think thats my fault because
i keep buying them from the wreckers and supplying the guys in the US from
Celica-GTS.com and here with them... now i dont actually have any for myself
lol...

I sent an email to a Plastic place with a picture of a set of vents and his reply
was...

Hi Jason
My name is Steve
I own Joinit Plastics it can be done, how many, and I do require a sample.
Please give me a ring and we go from there
Steve Leahy

So, It CAN be done.

So i am going to take a Set of vents (stealing them from my sisters celica lol)
in to him and find out how much its going to cost, but my Question is how
much interest would there be for Brand New Vents?

Cheers, Jason.

Sounds sweet..as long as shipping doesnt rape us.....

Looking forward to the details!

I'd be in for another set ;)

Goo, shipping wasn't too bad for the set he sent me last week. I'd have tolook at the box again, but very reasonable, considering he sent them airmail.

Thanks again Jason, now to take my car apart and install them.

Yeah Shipping isnt really much, its usually around $20aus but i found a way
to make it cheaper by using lighter boxes...

Not sure on how much they are going to cost to get made yet but hopefully
it isnt too much, im not sure how the guy is going to deal with the bolts on the
back though lol..

Installing isnt too bad, all i usually do is take off the 2 covers on each side of
the interior and squeeze my hand in through those little holes to put them on
but ive been doing it for ages now so its easier lol

I'll be down for at least 1 set, maybe 2.

Going to ring the guy today or on Monday, see what he says about it all and
find out about the bolts on the back of the vents.. wonder how we are going
to get around that problem

is there anymore interest, i would need a bit more to get these made up
because usually they would have a minimum they would produce

I think once you meet with the guy and get a price estimate, more people will be able to decide if it's something they'd want. Awesome idea though, I'd personally love a set. Find out how much they'd be to make based on several different production amounts, then based on people's reactions decide if it's worth the trouble.

Exactly, I would be in for a set if they could be made. Let us know.

Depending on price.... i'd like a set too.... if not a couple sets

oh, are you lookin at getting the "tube" piece that goes on the inside of the fender made with it?

I'd be in for another set, if the price wasn't bad probably a couple sets to customize (I have an idea to incorporate a red LED strip into smoked red vents to keep the police happier).

I'm thinking about the same as Will above

These are the ADM/JDM vents that replace the red rear quarter lights/reflectors we got CDM/USDM.

Ok just got back from going to see Steve at Joinit Plastics and hes going to
Draw it up in Cads, so brand new vents, brand new tubes, brand new bolts and
nuts... i gave him the ones out of my sisters celica so hes doing that this week.

once the cads drawing is done then a guy comes down to see it and give him
a price on how much a alloy tool is going to cost to make, he said it wont be
cheap.. so the tool will cost a bit... i find out how much on Friday next week.

what dash vents you talking about? theres so many lol

ok cool, im going to try and keep the cost down as much as i can.. since i
want to keep a few sets lol...

at the moment im finding out how much its costing for 25 sets...

im also thinking about doing all the dash vents later on because i know they
seem to break alot.

Last I heard the dash vents (i'm pretty sure you are talking about the small ones that aim towards the side windows) are only available at Toyota in black and go for $15usd each... so if you could do better, or possibly different colors, that would be great... i know I currently need two sets of black, and a set of maroon...

yeah there the ones i was talking about, along with the defroster ones near
the windsheild.. both those types of vents seem to break alot over here
because they are the most sub damaged ones.. i know i need a pair lol...

after i get the rear 1/4 vents done im seriously considering doing the dash vents.

I just spray painted the black replacements and it came out fine. I used a blue upholstery paint (from Pep Boys) which matches pretty closely on lots of interior pieces, including the arm rests and center console. It works for the blue interior because there are already so many different shades of blue in the interior anyway - so it's very forgiving.
