I thought mine was busted. I found out that it comes on when the headlight switch is turned on. That can't be right, can it?

yes thats right. you should only need a light at night right?? least thats toyota's logic

yes its for working on the side of the road when its dark so no drivers hit you

sounds about right to me...but i cant imagine it would be hard to make it connect directly to some other power source so when the little plunger button was released it was on.

you know when you blow a fuse and pull over to check it and also to check things when you hit something. that is also why it pulls out so you can find your beer you throw out just before you get pulled over

jason i think you are thinking of the one in the car on the center console...slowsly is talking about the one near the passenger strut tower under the hood.

Nope they both have cords and only come on with the corner lights.

But then you'll be draining your battery every time your hood is open.. Or if the switch goes bad and stays on... having it controlled by the marker lights makes a lot of sense!

yup the one under the hood turns and pulls out just like a light bulb. and has about 6 feet of cord.
