a few months ago i asked a Question on those imports with the caribeners on the rear tow hooks. i have the answer....they are on the tow hooks for its a atention getter.. it makes you look at there car.. thats it

The one on the back of my Supra is there because the rules require a 2" opening on the tow point for the recovery crew to be able to hook the tow strap to. It was a quick and dirty fix to solve the problem.
Now I guess I'll have to put a real tow eye back there.

yeah... cause a caribener will be able to hold your car when it needs to be towed.......

A real caribiner used for climbing is amazingly strong, and is made in a way similiar to a chain link, it closes in on itself so even if it gets pressure put on it, it can't tear apart. A forged steel caribiner, I think it could handle a beating. Those caribiners that hold your keys or that you use on a pack sack are not intended to be used under force.

I thought yall's were talking about those crazy towing receivers they use in Asia. I would think if you have somewhere to attach one of those then, wouldn't the tow truck just hook up to that?
