compressor is off car, got from salvage yard off 85 supra. how can I test to see if seals leak, do I use air, pull a vac, etc. etc. I want to test before I put on car, seals on car will be new, as will be receiver/dryer, expansion valve etc. thanks.

a shop would probably pressure test it with liquid nitrogen so as not to waste refrigerant. It's a powerfully cold inert gas that simulates the pressures and cycling required. I am not sure how you can do it without having it on car. Your best bet is to let a shop do it, I think. Anyone? You might get away with less than $100...
