A comment some weeks back made by jsn_ayers had me wondering, so I asked a friend if he could run the part numbers MA61 versus the MZ12 Soarer and see what the differences were...

results:

MA61 AFM: 22250-43160 (Japan), 22250-43150 (USA)
MZ12 AFM: 22250-43160 (Listed for 5M and 6M)

MA61 A/T TPS: 89452-14040 (Japan)
MA61 M/T TPS: 89452-14020 (Japan)

MA61 TPS: 89452-28010, 89452-28040, 89452-20060 (USA)
MZ12 TPS: 89452-28010, 89452-28040, 89452-20060 (Change-ups)

So, the MZ12 TPS is the same as the USA MA61 TPS, and the MZ12 AFM is the same as the Japanese MA61 AFM, but different part number for USA AFM, not sure what's different.

...gotta wonder what the deal is with those JDM AFMs.. hm....

What would it take to get your hands on a JDM AFM to find out? :)

Perhaps something to do with the fact that JDM engines don't have an EGR system and USDM does?

^Yes, that would be a theory, along with the fact it may be set differently for that.. would like to run some A/F comparisons...

22250-43160 is the 83+ USA AFM
Never seen the 22250-43150 'USA' AFM

Hmm, I had two different people reading out of EPCs that the USM AFM was the 43150, and JDM was 43160...

So what about the 82 AFM? That would definately have a different part# than the 83 USA AFM, due to it's operating range being opposite of the later years.

I just called a Toyota dealership that I've been doing business with since 1989 and spoke with one of my friends that works in the parts dept. and he said that 22250-43160 isn't a good part number and that he doesn't have any way to track JDM part numbers. Tanya's friend(s) must have a JDM EPC that we don't know about. :-)

1982 AFM (U.S.) ----------- 22250-43110
1983 -1986 AFM (U.S.) ---- 22250-43150

Both are NLA and have been for some time now.
