View Full Version : wiper motor still runs in stop position (MK1)

Hi,
I just bought a MK1 and now I have some smaller issues to fix; the biggest problem currently are the wipers: I had to replace the old wiper motor because it was stuck. Now the motor works fine but there is a different issue: If I put the switch in the stop position the motor still runs (seems like it tries to find the parking position). If I put it on intermittent it runs on slow. Slow and fast position seems to work fine. Any ideas? Could this be related to the wiper relay?
I have tried the search function but I only found a post with a similar problem (unfortunately without solution...).
Thanks!

Just putting my $.02 here but it sounds like a short in the switch. The power sounds like it's bypassing the off and intermittent settings and either going to slow or fast when they are chosen.
I'm sure others will chime in with responses here too.

Thanks for your hint: I have checked the switch but it seems to work fine. The color codes are completely different to the wiring diagram I use but the functionality seems ok.
I think tonight I will try to measure the wiring itself. Even if I disconnect the wiper relay the motor still runs.
Any other ideas? I have not really a lot of experience with electrical issues so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
