Hey guys. It's been a long time since i've posted and i've done ALOT of lurking to prevent myself from coming across as an idiot again. I'm sorry for acting like a preteen douche within my first couple of posts but now I have a question to ask.
I have a supposed 1984 parts car but I think it's a 1983 because of the larger sunshade at the top of the hatch and no double spoiler. Now... my actual nice MK2 is a 1984, double spoiler and all. They are both P-Types. However, my LSD on the 1984 is slipping, if I drive slowly in a circle then punch it to loose traction I can feel only the outside tire is slipping which makes me sad :( I did this same test in my parts car and it spun out like LSD is supposed to work. (the parts car still runs haha all we took out so far is something for the door handle assembly, I got it for 400 CAD so meh.)
I want to swap the two differentials from the cars so my nice car has a working LSD but I have some questions on how to do this... I could ask my dad to do this for me as he owns a Toyota Dealership but I asked him and he said I can have a hoist to do this myself and I want to try because i'm tired of relying on my dad's Toyota mechanics and I can save a few bucks this way.
So. Can anyone provide some info on how to swap these out? I'm thinking of swapping the whole rear differential setup instead of a couple parts.
So what's my best option and how would I go about doing so? Swap the whole rear differential setup or just the actual limited slip diff itself. Any step by step guides are extremely welcome.
(Any differences in the '83 to '84 differentials beside the gear ratios that I should be concerned about?)
Thanks! CS.com!
