Hi forum,
I have a 1985/1986, Toyota supra that has been wrecked in the front and also on the driver side quarter panel. Prior to these misfortunes had put a low engine Japanese engine in the car with what they stated was 40,000 miles on it.
The car has several new parts and I even purchased parts to possibly put the car back together again, but I can't do it. Everything in the car worked prior to the accident and the interior is nice. So my question is...is it possible to recoup anything from this car or is it best to just send it to the junk yard? I really wanted to recover some money out of the vehicle since I did put some it to it.
Thanks,
Lady62
as you will soon hear from others, please post some pictures of the car and who knows, you might be able to sell a lot of the stuff to forum members rather than nearly giving it away to a junk yard.
If you're willing to part it out you'll make more $. Given the demand and lack of availability, a recycler can earn more (in a few weeks) than they'll pay you - just on the undamaged parts, considering discontinued parts and the group buys you see.
Lady62, if you can list the new parts I'm sure there would be interest as well as any parts off the car. Especially if your near the San Francisco Bay Area there are lots of us that need parts.

What is your location exactly. It's possible that I might take the whole car off your hands if it's fairly close. PM me, email or call. 831-234-7045
Since I have the space, the tools and the know-how, I can deal with a part-out. If you want to try to part it out yourself as the others suggested, you might find it to be a lot of work. As for the question of selling it to a junk yard----answer is no. You will not be fairly compensated.

Unfortunately, recyclers usually wind up ruining more parts than they sell. Supras this age wind up in the self-service yards. Inconsiderate boobs then tear up good parts trying to get to the one part they need thats buried deep inside the dash or engine bay. Then every greasy part they remove to get to it, they promptly throw inside the car and mess up the perfectly good seats or carpet. If not by grease stains, they leave the windows down and the sunroof open for the weather to ruin the interior. No, we don't like to see them go to the salvage yards. If you don't want to mess with parting it out yourself, then advertise it here as a complete parts car and let one of our folks have it to part out. Seems you've already got some interest.

I e-mailed Lady62 telling her post some pic's using photobucket or someone in the area would probably take it off her hands if she didn't want to part it out. told her we need the parts!

Good work and good advice, everyone! We ideally want to see PICS. It's really not that hard to do using photobucket, once you figure it out.

One post wonder thread. :(
I need Mirror Covers, L and R......Not the mirror themselves lmk if anyone has em !
its only been 1 day, I'm sure she'll remember to check back soon. She just doesn't realize that the CS members are more ravenous about parts than people on craigslist.

Hi Supkar,
I thought I did e-mail you about the car, but I'm new to this and it may have been someone else. *grin* However if you interest in coming to look at the car I would be more than happy to accomodate. Let me know!

Wow,
Because, I didn't know how to get back to my original post, I didn't know I recieved so much sound advice! I know inspite the damage to the vehicle it's still a parts heaven and I know it would make a good amount. I have the photos, now if I could just find the camera to pc connector so that I could upload them. I will! I can't part this car out myself, but I can tell you that there are many good ones. (parts)!!
And Thanks for the all of the responses!! I knew I had come to the right place!

Thanks for your advice Jim and I am willing to part out, just don't know how to do all that myself so it would be better for me to just get rid of the whole car. So I'm working on some photos for all to consider.
