contour fan wiring problem

got it wired in with this kit

30-40 amp relay, and 30 amp inline fuse... wired in as per directions of kit

and the inline fuse blows...

turn car off replace fuse, and the second i hit the accesories switch on key, it blows again...is it because i grounded everything to the negative terminal directly??

I checked for obvious positive/negative wire switches and there were none.

or wire it directly to the ignition so the come on when you turn the key:)

Do you have an ohmmeter or a multimeter? If yes, check for continuity between the body and your 12v for the fan. IF you read 0 to 10 OHM or if you put your meter on the sound signal and you ear BEEEEEP. Than you did something wrong somewhere.
Recheck your wiring and make sure all is ok.

The question is why do you blow the fuse when you turn the key on? The fans should be in the off position in this scenario. You wired something wrong on the fans and they are shorting out.

figured it out...it was my grounds on my fan...each fan was directly grounded to the negative on the battery...
now they are not and works great..


these ford contour (threw that in there for help searching) fans really move air.

so, just curious, how does the car feel without the clutch fan? rev faster? seem a little faster? or does it feel the same, just more space in the engine bay?

seems to rev a tad faster...
but nothing spectacular...just feels more efficient.
When sitting in place with the car running, the temp doesnt go any higher than when cruising at ~30.

not to mention cleans up the look under the hood.

overall well worth the money to me

well for some reason its blowing the fuse again...

i have been driving it and was working fine, not blowing the fuse, but now it is...

the relay that came with it says 40/60 amp. the fuse is 30 amp.
Do i need to get a bigger fuse??

it says that between the two fans they use 35 amps (roughly 17.5 a piece)

i am running one inline 30 amp fuse. So should i step it up to a 40 amp fuse (as stated above the relay says 40/60 amp)

There is no problem to use a 40amp fuse but you need to be sure that your wire gauge is enough. Should be 8AWG for 40amp. If you have smaller wire, it could burn so its not safe.

alright so as of right out its working good. I got a 40 amp fuse and its coming on/going off like it should. Went on a few drives throughout the day getting it to turn on and everything went swell.
