where you cut the rear wheel wells further in a put in wider rims

I would measure your wheel well width length and height go a a parts yard and do the same. A toyota truck bed wells work great as its thicker metal and you will be able to mout the shock to it.

it can be done but you better take a damn careful approach to this.
First, you need to realize that mk3 supras are unibody cars. not only do you need to make sure that rear is strong enough to support a shock and strut, but also maintain the structural integrity of the rear of the car. the subframe takes car of most of this... The grade and thickness of the metal would need to be equal to or better than the stock metal.
Now, this is all probably useless beceacaus you can already stuff the rear of a supra with pretty big wheels (17x9.5) and you can put 275mm wide tires on it too. you'd run into interference issues with the semi-trailing arms before tubbing the car is an issue...unless, of course you are trying to lower the car drastically. In which case a supra, in stock form would be undriveable. The mk2 gets massive negative camber changes with even small drops in height. do you want to get into designing your own suspension? probably not.
in short, don't do it.

damn... ok ill just take wheel wells from a supra at a junk yard then...
edit i have a bed from an 88 toyo truck i guess ill measure that and let you know first
and as far as mounting the struts go if i want to drop it and have it supported enough in back i could move the struts out (toward the fender) to make up for the negative chamber basically if i reinforce it enough i could custom position my struts as long as they are within the limits of the arms right?

...you'll have to "tub" the trailing arms before you get too far...
I'd worry about finding a car you can't pass a football through before worrying about this...

I think you need to step back away from all your projects and really think about what your doing. In the last week, I've seen you jump from scrapping it, to getting a new one, to getting a not so good one, to working on your AE86, and now to fix the supra, yer Chaotic Everywhere...
Step back. Take a look and see what you really want to do...
Personally if I was you I would strip your rotted shell for all good pieces, scrap it.
While doing that I would really look in a dry state for a 99% rust free shell(running or not) just the way you want it, color and everything.
If you get done stripping your shell and still haven't found a good replacement, go through and do some work to your rolla...(but I thought you were going to be selling that to, and i take it cross country trip is out of the books as well?)
Find a Supra you love...not one to just work on...in the last 2 weeks I've seen more new threads by you then anyone else it seems, and they seem to be going all over the place on what you want to do...just sit back and think about what YOU want for a car. Write it down even, then once you ABSOLUTIVELY POSILUTELY know then go for it.

Sounds to me like someone has been looking at Kennys avatar. ;) If that's what you have in mind, you're going to need one heck of a lot more than just tubs to get the job done.

Here’s an ’82 L-type that was lowered and had all four of the wheel wells rolled and stretched to fit wide wheels and tires.

Being lowered and these tires and rims did mess up the camber.

Note the wear on the above tire. This car was rusted in the rear but not like yours.
I blamed the fact that the rear wheel wells were never closed off when the “custom flareing” was done.
I was able to clean it up enough to save it. Sold it too.

But it ended up being just another rust bucket full of bondo that was fun to drive, but it wasn’t anything to be proud of.
I was happy to find a buyer but sad to see it go.

Sorry no pix of it with the 15 “ Epsilon rims on it.
They wore out so fast on the rear that I saved them for my ’84 project.
The project you’re talking about will be a lot like this, IMO.
Not worth the work.

Of note is that unless you go with coilovers on the rear (assuming you're using the stock MKII rear sub-frame and trailing arms) you will not make any changes to camber by moving the upper rear shock mounting location. The shock does nothing other than absorb and smooth the wheel/road vibration.
Now with coilovers it would be different. Research, do more research, then do some more. Then think about not doing it, then consider how good a welder you are, and consider again how much you trust your own work, to make sure that you have good penetration on the welds to keep it from pulling apart & deforming under load. Realize that it would be a grand at least to have a machinist/welder fabricate the rear for you.
That being said I think it'd be pimp!! Our cars were meant to have fat meats on the back.

lol yea im just trying to find out what my options are, but ive finally decided im just going to drive this this winter then scrap it and get out of supras for a while, i have 3 ae86's and a 71 rolla just collecting dust in the barn so ill work on those and get them ready this winter. now the trip around the states isnt out of the picture, it just is with the supra (and ps i sold a 88 rolla) sorry about all the threads just trying to find out what you guys think of an idea before i go fuck the car up worse than it is (if its possible)
