I was wondering, from the 6MGE MkII owners out there if there is anything major with the 6M's that make them not passable in an emissions test. Its a JDM engine(what the previous owner told me) so are they not as clean as the American 5M's? Or are they cleaner? Anything to lookout for?

I also know that each car and each state is different too, but this is just a general question.

(Sorry, I'm 6M illiterate, lol.)

Thanks in advance!

The 6m has no EGR system. To do a proper swap, you transfer the Supra's original plenum, throttle body and all EGR related parts to the 6m motor. Then in good tune, it should run just as clean as the US spec 5m.

You shouldn't have much trouble as long as you have a decent cat. I don't know how they test or what they look for, but most people wouldn't know an egr if it was staring them in the face. Do the usual tune up stuff before testing. If you don't pass then you will need to make adjustments.

Here in pa our vintage of cars are subject to a visual test. the missing egr would be evident immediately if the test is performed properly because the book tells us what to look for. Follow Phil D's advice and you should be fine.
