I recently bought and 82 Celica with the 22R engine, I keep hearing this engine is hard to find and worth a lot, is this true? I like the car and don't want to sell it but I can't afford to keep it at the moment. What would a good running 90k 22R be worth? (The car is a 5 speed if it matters)
Thanks in advance.

Much less than the car. Keep it complete. They aren't that hard to find, as they outlast the cars usually. But since the car gets crushed, so does the motor.

They are not hard to find......they are hard to find in running shape due to the 4x4 guys like to eat them like candy. That is also the main reason why they can be worth something, but that is if you have 4x4 guys around your area.

Ah, yes that's what I've been hearing, guess I should find some 4x4's unless a Celica lover wants to save it.

Yeah but when you are selling one that is complete and running they are worth around $500, at least in the PacNW they are due to all the Toyota 4x4 guys.
