Brake light on

I just had a general question about the brake light on the dashboard. I know that it has shown up before when my alternator was beginning to go bad. It would show up along with the battery warning light on the dashboard. I got in my car this morning and the brake light seems to be stuck on with no battery warning light. The car seemed to be running fine so I was wondering if there is a common issue with that or anything to look at. It was very cold here this morning in North Carolina so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. Any thoughts?

Check your brake fluid level.

the switch for the e-brake could also be bad.

Hey thanks for the help with everything! I checked the brake fluid and picked up a few other things and after I added some fluid and pumped the brakes a bit, it cleared out and has been working fine since.
