No heat, worse mileage since the engine is always cold.

Engine will run at about 160 degrees, instead of 190ish. No heat, as was already stated. Some say you need the thermostat to maintain a certain heat to "burn off" the acids in the oil so it reduces wear on the internals. I've ran a car w/o a thermostat for awhile, couldn't say if it had any ill effects on the internals as it was already an extremely high mileage engine

well it won't always run COLD it will warm up slower and hurt your motor in the long run but i have ran without for a short time and didnt have any problems you definitly need one and at least with supras it is easy to get at and change

I ran my old black '85 without a t-stat in South Florida, and the temp needle stayed at the 1/8th mark 90% of the time... would go down past cold while driving when it got cooler outside (lower than 70 degrees)

engine is designed for hard driving at or near 195 F. You might break or wear something running cold engine at low temp.

Why would you want to remove the T-stat in the 1st place? :rolleye:

I used to block off 70% of my radiator with a piece of cardboard because my thermostat was stuck open one winter.

great little trick.

also good for extremely bitter cold weather when engine can't get to thermo temp on it's own cause it partially blocks off cold air into whole engine bay.
