Hi,
My name is Blaze I'm live near philadelphia and just bought an 1986 red P-type. Today is tuesday the 28the I bought this car friday the 24th. I worked all summer and spent my all my saving. Last night was my first time driving it, and it is my first car. It was perfect, I loved my Supra.
Unfortunately at 10am this morning someone came into my lane on a narrow road, causing me to move over. This road has a 8" drop and no shoulder onto grass. When i moved over to avoid them, due to the fact that it has been raining where i live for two days, my car caught the edge of the road and instantly went sideways. My drivers side quarter panel wrapped around a tree. But for a foot i would have been seriously hurt. Even though i was only going 25mph on a road where people do 45. Thankfully all i got was some glass in my face and arm, a cuncution, an almost broken nose, and have 2 nice black eyes.
I am asking for help, the body of my car is far past repair, does any one a clean shell or something like that really cheap. Even if it's a shell the drivetrain of my car is good, other than than the rear suspension.
If anyone can help it would mean the world to me, i just got this car and loved it, want to fix it and keep a Supra on the road but without a shell that will be impossible.
Thank you,
-Blaze-

That sucks man, there are people in that side of the state with good chassis. Talk to Damon or a few others. The meet in quakertown would be a good chance to do that. Look in the meet section.

Sorry to hear that man. I don't have anything extra, but I would be willing to lend you a hand if need be. Where are you from? I just recently saw a SDR sitting in downtown Quakertown that I never saw before...
It would be wise to contact Damon, although sometimes doing so is a challenge. I bet he has something lying around he could get you for cheap. If you don't know how to get a hold of him, PM me or something and I'd be glad to help.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. That's rough being I assume 16 or 17 and only driving your first car a few days before having a wreck. Indeed, what you have now is a parts car which can be used to put another back on the road. Years ago I watched another young man in the same situation do just that. Eight months project, all the while taking a full class load at college, working two part-time jobs, playing on the school soccer team and maintaining a girlfriend. He's now a college graduate, married to that same girl and still has that Supra in the garage that he put together from scratch with his own hands (and the car show trophy it won when it was finished - just to brag on you Keith in case you're reading). You can do it too.

That sucks buddy. I know of a shell here in Iowa if you can't find one local.
Here's what getting hit in the driver quarter at 65mph looks like.

Here's less then 25mph into a tree. bumper support wasn't installed with both bolts... just hanging out in place.. :/

Hi,
My drivers side quarter panel wrapped around a tree. Even though i was only going 25mph...
How fast was that tree going?

I'd say probably 15 to 20.

I want to set things straight. I was going 25 when that happened, the reason it looks like more is because the car never slowed down. I was instantly on 6 inches of water on top of grass. My car slid like it riding on butter. So when i hit i was still doing 25. I am not some dumb ass 16 year old kid who was speeding and driving recklessly. I was raised in the Bodyshop my father owns. I've been around cars all my life, so i would appreciate if you could stop with the comments.
Thank you

...how did your driver's quarter get crunched if your passenger side of the car was what went off the side of the road?
Best of luck finding a shell, they're out there, just have to look...

i would guess he slid out sideways nose to the ditch.
due to lack of driver experience i could easily see this happening.physics are all there to those who have an open thought process.

When I moved over at first my pass side front tire was half on somebodys paved drive way. When the drive way ended my tire sliped off the edge. If you ever taken a bike over a sewer drain and caught the wheel, thats sort of what happened. The was no way to get the wheel back on the road, it wasnt going to jump 6-8 inches. So when it went off due to the flooding on the road the whole car just got pulled by the jerk of the wheel.
I countersteered, punched the gas and knew not to brake. If I had more experience i could have droped from 3rd to 2nd and floored it which would have pushed me just far enough to miss the tree and spin into there big front yard.
But what i did do got the car just forword enouph to keep the tree out of the door. If that had happened i don't know how bad it would have been i would have been in very bad shape. It push the quarter in 7-8 inches. That would have been my shoulder, hip and head.
I am gratefull that i am not hurt more. I wish i had saved the car but you can't win at everything.
Thanks
-Blaze-
I look forword to meeting some of you at the meet on the 8th.

I don't know if I would have hit the gas.. Probably would have tried to straighten the car while off the gas and maybe light on the brake. That's just my experience from driving a turbo Mk.III in the winter.
