Ok well I went to set my timing today and the light was like off the scale on the crank shaft around 30 degrees. Now i jumped the connector but Im not sure it worked. I want to try and jump it at the ecu. Can someone tell me where the ecu is located and what terminals numbers to bridge. Wire colors are yellow with black and brown.

It would still read lower with it not jumped it will just jump around on you.

Check your TPS, when the idle switch goes out it screws this up

Ok well the lowest I can set it to is 15 degrees @ 700 rpm idle. If i jump tooth on the dizzy highest I can get is 2 degrees. Also my cams seem to be forward 1/2 tooth (thicker head gasket). I could grind the dizzy a bit and get 10. When its set to 15 it seems way under timed really laggy throttle and sluggish. I set it to what seems good. Runs great but Its scares me thinking its at around 20ish advanced if the light is right. So the jump connector is only to keep it from bouncing around?

TPS is out of adjustment or bad. My white '83 ran fine at 25BTDC, if I tried to retard it to 10* it would run horrible. The wring in that car was all messed up, and the TPS did not work.

With a working TPS and a timing light, you can watch the change in the ESA (electronic spark advance) when you unplug the TPS and plug it back in. There's like a 10-15* difference at idle (depending what your idle rpms are)

If you have the problem with wrong timing ( not sure I understand your problem)
Need to set it higher and higher to start ????
Your problem will be the little tab holding the timebeltwheel at bottumcrank.
Its sliding and will not hold long.... change it.

If you cant adjust ign timing with the izzy Your next step is to do what T said adjust your TPS.

Woggin, 82s are not controled by the ecu for timing if yours has the same problem look either at the cam timing make sure the TDC mark is for sure TDC on the piston. Than same as above adjust your TPS but it is not the same as 84/85s.

I do have the early vac too and have seen that problem twice.
Turn your engine by hand , unscrew your oilcover-- at DCT( 0 degrees)you can see a hole (mark) i topinletcrank through your oilcover hole..
Then turn your engine by hand back and forward and back some times and see if your topinletcrank is moving.. if it isnt following all the time you timebeltwheel is loose because of a worn not in the bottomcrank slash.

Look number 3 picture there it is sitting inside.

Hope you do understand what I am writting ..
