i went to a local tires shop today and they have lots of sizes in 50 series but not 45 series. now, i was wondering would the wall on a 245/50/16 be that much taller then a 245/45/16? i was thinking of running 245/50/16's in the back and 225/50/16's in the front. i can get all 4 used for $100 mounted and balanced. i dont have the cash for new tires so figured these would do for now. they have very good tread left.

the width would be almost exactly the same, but your height would be almost an inch taller. Try using this calculator to find different sizes compared to what you want for the vehicle:
according to the tire size calculator. the 245/50/16's will be the same exact outer diameter as the 245/60/14's i had on the back of the red car. sweet.

Correct!!! Actually, there's some variation in tire od from mfg to mfg. mich pilots had larger dia potenzas in
225/60/14. My Falken Ziex 512 225/50/16 are same size as mich 225/60/14. go figure.
