Merry Xmas to me... I treated myself to a few presents for myself this year.

I bought sales brochures for the 1966 Sports 800, 1967-68 MF10 2000GT, and the 1969-70 style MF10C/MF12 2000GT.

These are factory authorized reprints.... honest to goodness 2000GT originals can fetch over 1500USD, no thanks.

I think the reprints were made made 5-10 years ago, if not longer.

They are extremely well done and are a delight to loo at. They still cost me a small fortune with shipping from Japan.

Enjoy the pix because this stuff is very rare and hard to find.

The early style 1967-1968 2000GT brochure comes in a large black envelope, much like the 1982 Celica Supra booklet. Inside this envelope are several loose sheets, some are folded two and three times.

Notice the difference in the nose of the 1969-1970 2000GT.

A revised grille and foglmap treatment appeared in the later cars.

Dashboard and steering variations too.

The color detail picture of the 3M motor is probably my favorite shot in all the books, so I added a closeup snap.

Check out the Solex/Mikuni trifecta.

Also both the front and rear side marker lenses changed.

Any plans to add this stuff to the media section (or is this stuff too unrelated with regard to MK2 stuff)????

I might as well open up the entire vault now.

Ive been collecting books and sales literature for 35 years.

I bought this Sports 800/2000GT book about 20 years ago.

All Japanese text with lots of vintage photography.

Its worth a ridicuclous amount of money today.

This more recent 2000GT book was authored by Shin Yoshikawa in 2002.

He is an amazing man who I speak to occasionally... a true inspiration to me.

Besides being a jounalist, he is a fantastic photographer and all-around Japanese car expert.

In addition, he restores cars to an exacting standard.

The two 2000GTs is Toyota's Long Beach/Torrance museum were done by Shin.

He is also responsible for the aluminum 2000GT recreation recently posted about here on CS.

This book is the most complete bible for any 2000GT enthusiast. It is still avaiable for purchase today.

Heres another Japanese text book dedicated to the history of the Toyota Twin Cam powerplant.

It was published in the early 1990's.... before the mk4 was created.

Great photos... and Im sure its a wealth of engine information, I just cant read it.

I found this new Brian Long edition about 2-3 years ago.

Rather than a just revision or update, it seems to be a whole new composition.

I dont know about book stores, but I think you can still find this one floating around eBay.

I know a few people here have this one and can attest, its definitely worth picking up.

Very cool collection Greg. Thanks for sharing.

I am a bit of a bookaholic myself so I understand. I have some books that I cannot imagine ever parting with. I am currently trying to get - through a contact in Honda Japan - a rare book that Honda published (in english) with full technical specs, photos, etc. on their Turbo F1 era engines & cars. Considering the successes they had then, there should be some very interesting reading there.

This thread needs a little MkI love:

First, a fleet sales guide from 1981:

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u152/kds-ii/suprastuff/FleetGuidecover81.jpg

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u152/kds-ii/suprastuff/FleetGuidesupra81.jpg

This is followed by three pages of text listing Specifications, Features, Options and Colors. I can .pdf this if anyone is interested.

The second item is a 1980 Toyota Salesman's Product Information Guide:

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u152/kds-ii/suprastuff/Sourcebookcover80.jpg

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u152/kds-ii/suprastuff/Sourcebooka80.jpg

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u152/kds-ii/suprastuff/Sourcebookb80.jpg

It has additional pages as well, including a full page of features and specifications.

Finally, back to the MkII.

A 1984 Toyota Model Year Highlights book. This book is essentially a listing, with drawings, of changes from 1983 to 1984. The Supra section has 8 pages - I have posted 2 here. Will .pdf the whole section when I get a chance. It's really quite interesting - gives a detailed breakdown of every change from 1983 to 1984. Most of the info isn't new to this forum, but it's neat to see it listed in an official factory publication.

Bumping a cool old thread....

Is it just me, or are my pic links messed up for each first photo of each of my posts?

Thats how it appears on my screen now.

Even weirder, the missing pix show when someone else copied my link in another thread.

Aj, is that your wing? Wanna sell it? Would be sweet to have a lower wing on a 82/83 hatch with sunshade
