Just heard about these today, seems kinda cool, and I wouldn't mind eliminating the need to monitor tire pressure, not to mention no more worries about flats or punctures.

this is a repost i beleive. still interesting. idk how well theyd hold up over time or to constant abuse. also what happens if trash or something gets inside the spokes of the tire? thats gona throw it off balance and make for one hell of a vibration.

Agreed, I had thought of that myself, especially after all this snow and ice we had -- water, slush, mud, etc. all getting in those 'spokes' could make for trouble...

I would assume they would make production version with some form of sidewall, just a little less integral than current tech.

Snow and ice=big problem.

the sides can be covered with a flexible material.... thin rubber, silicone, nylon..

they were canned because of manufacturing cost can't be justified...there isn't enough benefits over a pneumatic tire. ride is not as good.

Hmm, hadn't realized this was as old as it is, saw these pics for the first time today. Pics were emailed to me stating; "...and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon."
Should have been followed by; "I read it on the Internet so it must be true..." lol.

They are designed to do that, notice how they are flexing but the entire tread patch is still in contact on the outside tires.

I think they intend to use a regular sidewall with these for cosmetics and protection from invasion. These specific pictures are of tires with no sidewalls so you can see the technology being used.
