edit* Had to use TinyURL.com to shorten link

I've been looking for some adapters (not just spacers) on which to improve the mounting of my Enkei 98's, which are L-type territory, about +24 or +23--can't remember. They are a bit tucked in, especially in rear, not quite coming out into fender well to stock P type look. These wheels don't have the lip of Enkei 92's at 0 offset, but are a nice-looking wheel. Running them now no problem.

These 25 mm ebay adapters are affordable, have the proper thread pitch, and seem to have the proper 60.1 mm hub bore. See link to ebay here:

I guess I have a couple of questions, even though these seem to be similar to Junkie's adapters that he mounts his Longchamps with (see pg.1 of "wheels that fit an MKII" thread). The SSR Longchamps are identical offset to me wheels.

1. Many hubcentric adapters have an extra lip that extends out into the wheel's bore to hold wheel steady.
Are these good enough? I don't want to go out into the rain to pull a wheel to examine them right now. I can't recall whether my wheels are more lugcentric or hubcentric, but I have no vibration issues. The nuts shown on the pic look like conical base lugs, which are ideal for centering our rims over the lugs. Or are those to be used to mount the adapter to the stock lugs, coming up through the larger 4 holes (nuts end up recessed into holes?). I assume that I'll use MY lugs on the four new extentions.

2. Does the bore diameter do enough to truly call these "hubcentric."

3. Are there some other well-known, tried-and-true brands? These are priced right, and I'd like to try them on the rear first.

Sorry if I am asking the wrong questions, and I know you get what you pay for...

200 bucks for a set of spacers...idk bout that, unless your getting a really good deal on the wheels, i dont know if it would be worth it.

here is my advice-

Buy these wheels. No Adaptors needed. Correct fitment for a mk2 and best of all get them for less than what it costs to have them made. Also too, have a very rare set of aftermarket wheels that very few people have.

I wouldn't buy those adapter simply because they don't have anything to center the rims on the spacer.... normally, you should have some sort of lip to 'reproduced' the hub on the car.... otherwise, the whole weight of the car is on the studs, plus the wheel is not perfectly center, which could cause vibration at 60-80mph.

Aaaah, Mike, those would look great on the third MkII I have hanging around here for my stepson: black 85 hardtop, Canadian origin. Butt end looks like yours. I recall you had some wheels and other goodies posted recently. I'm afraid they'd be out of me ole price range.

You always have top-notch stuff. Good luck with the sale. Bump...check his link out.

Now..what about my adapters? Will they work?

dmlsupra: Yes, I'm aware that proper hubcentrics can sometimes have the lip, and you are risking having the lugs do all the work if they don't. Thanks for the reply.

If the rims aren't centered on the adapter the weight goes to the studs?
I was thinking about it not being centered making a vibration but I didn't think about the studs at all.
Would the studs break?

Awesome wheels, very period to our cars and great seller!

If you decide to go with adapters try to get them (ID) hub centric to the supra 60.1 mm and (OD) hub centric to the wheels you purchase.

Will go measure the enkei's. Watching football. Drinking beer. Pulled the intake side cam tower of the 85 and found the collapsed and ticking lash adjuster(flattened valve stem head a bit. Will try to shim to bring it back up to height) Lot going on today.

Here they are when the weather's nice:
