Got 2 tires mounted onto my 17" Etoiles, so I tested one wheel on. This is the 9.5" meant for the front. But I tested it on the rear. Wheel stuck out a bit, tire jammed into the flare so I left the jack underneath to support. I had the shop try to mount the 245/45 onto the 11.5" but couldn't get it to inflate, so I will be looking for wider tires, 315/35/17. I can already see how much modding I will need to do.

BTW, these will be going onto the Supra. I just used the Celica to see how it will fit as it should be the same specs for the rear. It looked way too big for the Celica. It needs a bodykit to look right, wheel to body size ratio.

those will look badass on anything. do you have a set of 4?

^^^^Yes I do. Fronts are 17x9.5 (the ones you see in the pics) and rears are 17x11.5.

What's the offset on the 9.5?

Do you have a good body guy? A nice widebody or custom flares are really hard to pull off. Shop around and look at a lot of work before giving the car to someone...they can really fuck the car if they dont know what they are doing.

Mr Xiong,
the offset of the 9.5's is -38 according to the seller I bought them from. They seem to be correct as my SSR 9"-27 doesn't come out that far.

Malloy,
I am lucky that I am my own bodyman. Went to school years ago and have worked in the field for awhile before changing career paths. But I have never custom made wide body panels. I've seen, and was taught, that cardboard was good material for mock ups. Then lay the fiberglass over it and smooth it out from there. It will be awhile before I do this as I want to roll on the SSR for a bit first. Once tired of that look, I will begin the project.

245/45 I think it fits perfect. No stretching or bulging tires. I got a great deal on this set of used tires so I tried to use all 4. But as stated earlier, I'm gonna need to get some 315's for the rears.

^^^^Yes they are. There is a set of Panasports on Hybridz for sale right now, 16x12 -65. The guy wanted to trade for my SSR plus cash on my side. Those are even more crazier than these. I said no of course.

they do make a 315/35/17 tire. even in drag radials. lol. i know, i wanted to run them in the rear on my 84. but after lots of calcs im sure they would rub so gave that idea up.

I think making wider flares would be quite easy on our cars. My idea was to get 4 spare flares, longer bolts, washers to space out the flares then whip out the fiberglass and misc materials to fill up the gaps.

Will a Cheetah help with mounting those tires on that wide of a rim?

Yes, and if they didn't try that it's not a very good tire shop.

Not all tire shops do rice mounting. In fact most 'very good' shops frown at the idea. :eek4dance:

same way many trailer tires are mounted.
a shop not doing it for whatever reason is fine. a shop that can't do it is sad.

I am not sure if it will work, but because the front flares are higher & wider than the rears, I figured that I could remove the fronts, remake & adapt them to fit the rear. The problem, obviously, is that the inner arch on the rear will have to be trimmed or flared to accomodate the wider rim, at a relatively low stance. I don't know if the shapes of the inner arches will be similr front & back (width right to left). The fuel flap will also get in the way. I thought that I could have the fuel flap open the other way & trim the corner, but will have to be careful when filling fuel. What do you guys think? A reasonable idea?

I got these on hybridz.org And my other ones from searching the net. There are wheels that fit our cars on a few sites such as zilvia.net or club4ag.com. These kinds of wheels pop up once in a while, and they're not cheap. Just gotta look everyday and grab them before someone else does.

Finally got some tires for the 17x11.5 rears. Found a pair of used Nitto 555R 315/35/17 for $225 from a local used tire dealer. Here are some pics. Will test fit them to show how they fit when I have time.

The Nittos are massive, now I just need to finish the Supra to burn these tires up.
