Cross Posting from PSTOC.org

Well, I decided since it was a nice day I was going to see about cleaning my wheels. Took a peek at the Griots catalog that I get in the mail, and couldn't really determine what I would need. So I headed down there, figured if Dustin or Jenn weren't there that someone could point me in the right direction. Dustin was there and he had me pull the car into the garage so he could try a few things. First he tried a 3M spray, which apparently is one of the strongest solvents they have, and it didn't do a thing to what is caked onto my wheels.

i like a challenge, but damn!

He finally got a bit of it to come off with some Fine Hand Polish. Told me what I would need to do is start it off with some Speed Shine, and then work in the Paint Cleaning Clay and sold me the kit, along with some of the polish.

Clean on the left, dirty on the right:

Halfway there!

Finally finished! Only took me four hours....

And back on the car.

hard to tell from the pics but it looks like the powdercoating isnt in the best shape. i would think you would be better having them stripped and re-powdercoated, no?

I would definitely say that the wheels need to be torn down and redone. But with little cash, and a little bit of elbow grease, they will clean up nice til I can get a professional to do it.
