I tried two products on my rims. Simple Green Max Automotive Cleaner and Degreaser and Super Clean All Wheel Cleaner. I also used a soft brass toothbrush. Spray product on one section at a time and GENTLY scrub the area. Rinse thoroughly. GENTLE scrubbing won't leave any scratches. Once the wheel is clean I washed it with Mothers Car Wash and a soft bottle scrubber to get into the nooks and crannies. Dry off your clean rims and admire your work. Once they are clean just keep them up with the soft bottle scrubber when you wash your baby.

+ on the Eagle etching mag cleaner, and go to wally-world and see if they carry the elec brush cleaner in the auto section (looks like a big yellow toothbrush). Then get some polish and finish up the rims, since there will be no shine to them after using the mag cleaner. I have had quite a bit of luck with the little powerball, but a rag will do also.
And if you want them like mirrors, there is a writeup for that if you look for it.
FYI, if you have 84+ rims, you will also need some type of good paint stripper if the clearcoat has started to flake off.

I've tried many different products and found Armor All Quick Silver to be the best for cleaning stock clear coated wheels.
I think they call it Quicksilver II now, and it may not be as good as the original.

I think the original quicksilver was highly concentrated with acid, didn't matter if the clear was all there or not....it was cleaning whatever it came in contact with.
I'm not sure I would have used that stuff on a wheel that was not missing any clear because it may have began to eat it away.

They get to a point where it's just impossible to just clean them and get the results you want . Clean turns into restore a lot with these cars :eekfacepalm:
Here's the list
1 dozen beer / orbital air polisher / 220 gr / 400/ 1500/ 3M scotch brite pad/ Mothers Billet polish / More beer / rattle can of paint of my paint code / one very sore arm and 2 days to finish...

Used a dremel tool with duhickey velcro attachment (for sandpaper) reclining in Supra leather bucket (that's no way to treat your leather, lol)

yea. etching mag cleaner and steel wool is what i used. take the clear off, i think it looks better without it and its easy to clean, then paint the centers. i used 99cent spray paint from walmart and its still looks pretty damn good compared to what it used to.
