View Full Version : Eibach springs lower the rear, not the front. Anyone else?

Has anyone else had the experience of putting on Eibach lowering springs and seeing the rear drop by an inch, but the front stay just where it was with the old stock springs?

If so, please let me know.

Or am I the only one that has experienced this?

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Get new springs :(

I have Eibachs on the rear...and Im now waiting for a custom front setup. :eek:

Every car with Eibachs has this issue unfortunately. The car handles much better, but looks funny. I HATE the oh so common mk2 ass sag...and the Eibachs only make it worse.

Lighter note: I am now good friends with the VP of marketing/sales for Eibach USA, so I may be able to talk to him just to get the scoop. Of course, he probably doesnt even know what a mk2 is ;)

Oh, I actually sold them to a friend with a 7mgte mki :) They would have slammed my car tooo much...so I got off my wallet and went for something else. Damn $ pit cars.

I have the Eibachs on my car, and frankly it doesn't look much different before and after. I measured about an 1/8" drop in the rear and 1/4" in the front. Just looking at it, it look higher in the front on my car. I think its a visual illusion, mostly from a combination of the tapered rear hatch profile and the goofy camber problems in the rear. I think if the wheels only had maybe 1 degree of camber at rest like the front it would look better. I've measured the distance of the side mouldings and rocker bottoms all around and according to my numbers the car is ball park level.

What did the front set of K-macs run you? Are they a 2" drop? I got Eibachs on the front now, and would like to go a little lower.

i have the same problem wid my eibachs...but like how someone has told me before..."just get coilovers and call it a day". hmmmnnnn i wonder if RabidChimp can develop a coilover kit for the mkii. ground controls is kinda pricey based on other kits out there for other cars. ill send mr.garney an email. :D

Sometime this summer, I will have made a set of rear spring cushions
to compensate for the Eibach rear springs.

They will be 3/4-1" taller than the stock cushions.

I made my own, which brings the car level to much more normal.

One can also use them with stock springs, just in case it has
that rear sag problem.

Price is unknown as of yet.

I take it the Eibach springs are fairly stiff? If they're made primarly to improve your mk2s handling then I can see Eibach not building them with too much of a drop due to the mk2s lack of camber adjustment front and rear. I have the ST's and they feel great but I wasen't looking for a really stiff ride and I of course have crazy camber now. But the car handles really nice.

The Eibachs do actually lower the car. I know the factory setup has the rear sitting higher than the front. (Trust me, I just removed a factory set with only 7K miles). The Eibachs level the car. Not really great to look at. This will be the only time I say it needs a coil cut on the front springs.

This thread is interesting as I have not installed Eibach's yet. I wonder if it's best to leave front Eibach alone and go with rear Eibach and Jim's spacer he was talking about?

When are planning on having rear spacers made? Do you have stock or Eibach springs? I'm sure this spacer "corrects/lessens" camber problems.

So you're saying that you want to lower the fronts some more? Will this work with 17's wheels?

I put coilovers from a 1993-97 corolla that my brother had laying around, and I put them on the front to see if they fit, and they do. I have the car lowered 2 inches in the front with suspension technique springs in the rear
