88 Conquest Tsi

There is an all black 88 Conquest Tsi for sale for 1500 just down the road from me. Says it runs strong......I think I could talk him down to 1200. Body is straight except for front air dam....... What I'm getting at is, Do any of you guys know much bout these cars? mods? possible H.P. #s..... I love the way the car looks.....just wanna know how they run.... I used to have an 86 Daytona Turbo Z...CS edition. Damn thing never did run tho......this would kinda be redemption for the Daytona to me.....if its worth it.....

I had a silver 88 TSI when I got it with 85,000 miles it ran very strong,Had excellent handling and braking! By 120,000 miles the engine died, along with everything else!!!! parts were pricey and scarce, So I parted it out, My advice to you is '' check the compression, mileage,smogability if required,If it passes and still drives like a bat-out-of hell? Buy it! you'll love-it, till you don,t!!! P.S. about 180hp stock,300hp easy!!

My friend owns one and many in the past. In stock form they are fairly boring acceleration wise. Handle great with the shp package. They are fun when you upgrade the turbo to a 18g with a healthy motor but my friend blew 2 built motors due to ignition issues. Most #s I see are in the 250hp/tq range.
Lots of lil electronic and mechanical issues.
