I love the wagon. I just worry about its future in the US market.

1. auto only...so no 6MT fun :(
2. rwd base price almost 40k MSRP with a 270hp 3.0. AWD 3.6 will be close to 50k. 20mpg
3. No alternative engine option like seen in Euro sport wagons. Asia and European markets will get a 2.8 turbo diesel though
4. Pop up nav is HIDEOUS (not a big issue...but it really annoys me)
5. The much more affordable Magnum didn't last long

Thoughts?

It reminds me of an expensive minivan.

I personally don't think it'll do too well, north America isn't too keen on larger wagons from what I've seen, subarus are about the onlyreally successful wagons.
Then the lack of engine and transmission choices, we need more and better choices, I was at a dodge dealer a few months back, said I was looking for a turbo diesel suv- there's a liberty td- and I told him I wasn't looking for a full sized truck, he pretty much told me to take off
then there's the last point of higher price for a new model in recession

it's a tough one to judge, you never know, it could just take off

not feeling it. looks like a volvo rip off from the back. id take a dodge magnum or a audi wagon over that any day of the week.

The new 2 door caddy reminds me of the Corrado!

V70R 6MT 2004-2007 is what I'd get for 1/2 the price and the same hp as far as wagons go.

But I'm probably biased as I drive a V70R AWD in the winter.

caddy needs to bring back the el darado or the coupe deville. how about a full size convertable with a back seat. as the owner of a 1952 series 62 sedan all stock and a 1967 coupe deville 2dr hard top. caddy has lost the style. bring back the fins and bullet tail lights in leds would be so sweet.

It's interesting. I'd like to know how well it drives. Seems like a lot of money in comparison to some of the other wagons out there these days. have you looked at the turbodiesel wagons from BMW yet?

if it has a northstar engine dont get it. northstars have bad head gasket problems once you get up around 80,000 miles.

idk the specs on the car but if it has that engine i wouldnt get it. just do some research.

Looks better than I thought it would - probably won't do well anyway. I wish they would just introduce vehicles that will sell, so they can put some money in the bank.

Oh, I'm not looking to buy one. I just though it was an interesting piece for GM to actually bring to market. If I was king it would have more 'sport' to woo the BMW and Audi guys. (the 3.6 sounds pretty stout...but no MT kinda kills it) There would also be a turbo diesel option for the US. (with an aggressive/focused marketing program of course)

Caddy REALLY needs to build a big daddy luxo car. Target the LS460, not the 7 series. The DTS is a JOKE. To think Caddy was the king of luxury back in the day....and now only seniors buy the DTS. No style, nothing. They are slow and get shitty fuel economy too!

I agree that a TD would be very desirable in a car that big. The extra torque would make a huge difference to how easy the car is to drive. And yes, they really need to market the TD properly because most people that drive a caddy are old folks and they remember the good old days when only truckers used diesel for anything - and dirty, smelly, clattery, noisy things they were, too!

There's no simply no basis of comparison between those two cars, Mike. The first one one was well respected, highly regarded, desirable, and spoke well of the owner...

EXCELLENT example, any car they make that doesn't look like this is not a caddy, it's an abomination. so much class it doesn't know what to do with all of it

CTS Sportwagon is fresh.
I love it, and I'm not what you would call the biggest fan of american cars.
