Well I feel kinda stupid for posting this but I can not get the top bolt out of my starter!! Maybe getting to old and can't bend the same way I used to be able to but anyone have any tips on how to accomplish this??? I am trying to pull the tranny and that along with the other two bolts are holding me up. Any input would be GREAT!!

I had to get help on mine
I went underneath the car and twisted either the bolt or the screw and I got my dad to stick his hand down from the top and twist the other one. Had to twist both ends on all the screws, I was just able to do it myself with the other one from underneath.

I use a stubby 14mm on the bellhousing side, and a 8" extension with a 14mm socket/wrench from the top and never had a problem. Getting the nut back on is where the "fun" is.

Yes, I know I said stubby, extension, and nut all in the same post.:mfinger:

i bought myself a set of stubby gear wrenches when i replaced my starter.

they are amazing in small places like that.

I use a long extension and a wrench...

Long as in I use the ratchet from in front of the block...I think i use a 12" and a 6" together...

Never really had an issue doing it that way.

Yeah, my friend that was with me when I picked up the 14mm one (open end/ratchet end) for $1.50 on sale at VatoZone laughed about it, till he asked to borrow it a few weeks later.
