View Full Version : Has anyone ever bought a rebuilt '82 distributor?

I'm just wondering if these rebuilt units (ebay, Rock Auto) come with new vacuum advance units, or guaranteed working ones.

As I posted in the WTB section, the sub diaphragm on my vacuum advance died on both my original and backup spare distributor. New Totyota replacements Class F and while I've ordered a used one from the list, I'd really like to have a fresh new unit with new rubber for a long term solution.

Anyone with first hand experience?

Normaly some oil and massaging the ring inside the distributor will fix the problem with extra advansing timing vacuum..... My working fine still after 26 years, (but have been massaging it.)
2 rings must turn without resistance.

I don't think oil and massaging will repair a hole in a diaphragm, but thanks for the tip!

Just to help close the thread, bought the cheapest one on ebay, rebuilt by Arrow, less than $75 and it works great. I think the vacuum advance is a brand new (old stock) Nippon Denso.
