Timing

For us unenlightened people who are probably going to keep playing with there car until they break it, how do you adjust the timing... I'm running a pretty much stock block (rabid chimp filter, no resontaer, magnaflow), and was thinking of advancing the timing to 14 degrees.

Oh, and if I'm asking something that will probably result in my destroying my car, feel free to falt out tell me so (before I do something I'll regret) :?
