My ’83 is falling on it’s face around 3000 RPM’s. If I accelerate slowly it does ok but if I try to accelerate fast it starts bogging. I can put my foot down hard and it decelerates but when I let off it backfires and starts accelerating again. She seems to run better when cold or after sitting for a little while.

I should add that it is extremely hard to start after sitting overnight and once it starts, it smokes lightly with a strong gas smell.

I have recently replaced the MAF and distributor. Also checked for possible false air but found no leaks. And the obvious when I bought the car - fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, button, ect.

Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

leaking injectors, cloged return line(high fuel pressure), or bad TPS

Thanks. I'll start checking now.
