This should be a sticky. My 2 favorite places to look are
http://www.rodshop.com.au -- all sorts of bellhousings and adapters
http://www.dellowauto.com.au/ -- they specialize in making adapters to mate Toyota W and G- series and R154 transmissions to various engines.
For completeness' sake, here stateside is
www.advanceadapters.com -- but they have squat compared to the competition down in Oz.

Between the two sites, you can mate the 1UZ up to all sorts of trannies:
W58, R154, Ford C4, Powerglide, etc.
I still think the one discovery I've made recently that makes my heart skip a beat is how easy it is to mount a Northstar V8 to a W58 or R154. Not a Lexus V8, but pretty darn close.

I've been thinking of that too when reading Dogstar talk about it being one of US's top 10 engines. NA & at 300hp and 265ft/lbs, and pretty good gas gas mileage for a 4.6. Satisfying power without boost
And a front cut for $1,100  Might just be the most bang for the buck  Not refering to the pic
